1.Gyeonggi Provincial Headquarters of National Agricultural Cooperative Federation Donates Rice to Muhandolbom Center

The Gyeonggi Provincial Headquarters of the National Agricultural Cooperative Federation, or NACF Gyeonggi, lent the customized welfare service organization of Gyeonggi Province, Muhandolbom, a helping handdonating ricefunds.

The Gyeonggi Provincial Headquarters of the NACFBae Hye-jeong Nurukdoga donated a total of 1,000 sacks of riceKRW 10 million to Gyeonggi Provincethe Community Chest of Korea.

The donated rice will go to the Free Meal Service Centers in Gyeonggi Provincethe money will be used to support low-income families through the Gyeonggi Chapter of the Community Chest of Korea.

With the heightened spirit of cooperation between the provincial government, the agricultural cooperativeresidents of the province, Gyeonggi Province reaffirmed its intent to extend utmost support to disadvantaged residents.

The Muhandolbom program was first launched in Gyeonggi Province to provide distressed families with customized welfare services,it has now become a model welfare service program in Korea. Recently, Muhandolbom has opened a number of centers throughout the province to provide its services more effectively.

The first Gyeonggi Muhandolbom Center opened on April 1st.

Muhandolbom was awarded the grand prize in the welfare support policy category of `The 2010 Model Brands of Korea Award’ for a second time in a row.
With additional supportthe private sector, the Muhandolbom program of Gyeonggi Provincenow assured of becoming a model program that transforms our society into a brighter, more caringneighbor-loving place.

2.Gyeonggi Province Supports Movie Makers Shooting in the Province with Incentives

Gyeonggi Province will grant incentives to movies that are produced utilizing the image resources of the province. This incentive program will operate under the name of “Cine-Incentive Program” with the objective of promoting the image industry in Gyeonggi Province as well as local economy.

For the first half of 2010, Gyeonggi Province set aside a total of KRW 131 million in Cine-Incentives for three ed movies.

‘Housemaid,’ which became the talk of cinema-goersbeing invited to the prestigious Cannes Film Festival,one of the ed movies. It was directedLim Sang-su starred Jeon Do-yeon. The other ed movies were ‘Road No. 1,’ produced in commemoration of the 60th anniversary of the Korean War,‘Destroyed Man,’ which stars the talented actor, Kim Myeon-min

These movies were ed based on an assessment of their utilization of the image industry infrastructure in Gyeonggi Province including image companies, incentive program participantsprofessionals, as well as the amount of budget spent within the province.

All three movies ed filmed more than 70% of their contents within Gyeonggi Province. ‘Road No. 1’, among others, was filmed at Fantastic Studios in Bucheon with extensive supportGyeonggi ProvinceBucheon City.

By providing financial support in the form of incentives to movies filmed in the province, the Cine-Incentive Program aims at advancing the local image industryeconomy as well as promoting Gyeonggi Province.

Cine-Incentives of KRW 130 million are also planned for the second half of this year, for which applications will be received until mid-October.

3. Public Offices to Provide More Active Services in 5th Popular Election

At the start of the 5th term of popularly elected government leaders, 26 heads of public organizations in Gyeonggi Province met together. In this meeting, 8 organizations that marked higher scores in management assessment for the previous four years were recognized with awards. Kim Yu-yeong reports.

The meeting was organized for the heads of 26 public organizations of Gyeonggi Province to present performance results of the previous four years as well as future plans.

From the assessment of leadership strategies, management temsmanagement performance, 8 organizations were ed as the best public organizations.

The highest S-grade award was given to the Gyeonggi Credit Guarantee Foundation for its excellence in management,an A-grade award was presented to 7 offices including the Gyeonggi Urban Innovation Corporationthe Gyeonggi Small & Medium Business Center. Twelve organizations including Gyeonggi Bio Center received B-grade awards. Gyeonggi Governor Kim Moon-Soo (김문수) urged the attendees to provide the residents of the province with substantial, appreciable services.

The Gyeonggi Provincial Medical Center, which received a C-grade in the assessment, stated that it will launch active programs to aid less-privileged individuals in securing medical services.

Since last year’s dramatic settlement of the dispute between labor, managementgovernment, Gyeonggi Province has been endeavoring to promote cooperation among public organizations under its roof. As the 5th term of popular elections begins, expectations are increasing for the public organizations in Gyeonggi Province to more closely adapt their services to the needs of provincial residents.

The Development Evaluation Program, or DEP,an online program that allows s to check the development of children less than 3 years of age based on behavioral observation of the children.

The progressive development of a child in 6 categories – including motor skills of largesmall muscle groupscommunication skills – are displayed on a screen in the form of graphics. The strengthsweakness of a child can then be viewed at a glance.

The time between birth36 months of agethe period during which a child begins social learning through a variety of physical reactions such as eye contact, simple vocal soundswalking.

However, a child demonstrates slow development during this period, appropriate consultationtreatment should be sought because it may prevent serious disabilities later on. Currently, 40 children are receiving treatment for developmental problems that were identified through this program.

The DEP Programprovided free of charge a subscribes as a members before theof this year.

Disabilities must be identified earlytreated appropriately, otherwise children with disabilities may have to suffer enormous amounts of physicalmental agony throughout their entire lives. This online program will undoubtedly contribute to identifying infantsyounger children with potential disabilitiesreduce the likelihood of serious disabilities.

5.Gyeonggi Province, a Paradise for Women

The result was an average evaluation of 3.7 points out of a possible maximum of 5 points, revealing a high degree of satisfaction among women in Gyeonggi.

This survey was conductedthe Gyeonggi-do FamilyWomen`s Research Institute to collect the opinions of women in Gyeonggi Province for use in familywomen policy making.

More than 1,000 womentheir teens up to their 60s responded to the questionnaire that asked for their ratings of satisfaction with life in Gyeonggi Province. On a 0-to-5 scale,5 points represent absolute satisfaction, the average rating was 3.7 points.

The highest satisfaction rating was given to amenitiespublic transportation, which scored 3.5 points on average. This was followedthe childcare temculturalleisure facilities as well as medical servicesair pollution in the healthenvironment category. The satisfaction ratings for job availabilitysafety were the lowest.

As the 5th popular election term begins, Gyeonggi Province plans to pursue intensive measures to a new province in which residents can enjoy livingcreating 150,000 new jobs, preventing accidents such as firebuilding collapse,making streets safer at night.

6.Gyeonggi-do FamilyWomen’s Research Institute Leads in Solving Youth Problems

A forum on familieswomen in Gyeonggi Province was held with the participation of activistsspecialists in various related fields. The attendees discussed family, womenjuvenile issues.

Scholarsspecialists in the fields of familyyouth, including the director of the Gyeonggi-do FamilyWomen’s Research Institute, Jeong Hyeon-Jua researcher of the National Youth Policy Institute, Kim Hyeon-Cheol, gathered together for a forum.

This Gyeonggi FamilyWomen Forum was the 15th such occasion this year,youth policy was the agenda this time.

Under the predetermined topic of the “Improvement of Youth Policy in Gyeonggi Province,” this forum focused on self-initiated capacity buildingyouthsthe creation a youth-friendly environment as two major subjects.

7 Greenhouse Gas Reduction with ‘Industries STOP CO2 Mentoring Agreement’

‘Green Growth’no longer a choice but now a necessity for survival. Since the enactment of ‘The Basic Law of Low Carbon Green Growth’ in AprilKorean government, the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions has became compulsory for companies that produce large CO2 emissions. Gyeonggi Provincetaking the lead in responding positively to governmental policy with ‘The Industries STOP CO2 Mentoring Agreement’.

Large companies are proceding hand in hand with smallmedium-sized companies in the reduction of CO2 emissions.

Twenty large companies – including Samsung ElectronicsLG Display –41 smallmedium-sized companies entered ‘The Industries STOP CO2 Mentoring Agreement’.

The concept of ‘The Industries STOP CO2 Mentoring Agreement’for large companies to transfer their accumulated carbon reduction technologies to smallmedium-sized companies,to calculate the amount of carbon thus reduced as part of their own reductions.

Gyeonggi Province plans to allow the amount of CO2 emissions reduced under this agreement to be accepted as part of the ‘Recognized National Greenhouse Gas Reductions’ so that they can be traded in the carbon market or used in purchase applications to the government.

Mean, Gyeonggi Province plans to continue its efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions through various activities such as promoting inter-company cooperationorganizing a new ‘Low Carbon Green Management Forum.’
