1. Everland Transformed into a Tourism Complex

Everland whichone of the biggest tourist attractions in Yongin, Gyeonggi Province changed its rankingan amusement park to a tourism complex. Thisthe second tourism complex in Gyeonggi Province.

Yonggin Everland, the biggest theme park in Korea, will develop itself into a multiple entertainment tourism complex.  

Gyeonggi ProvinceSamsung Everland went into an agreement to construct a tourism complexfor mutual cooperation. 

The areas appointed as a tourism complex are 330,000m2 of Everland including 650,000m2 of the Pogok area in Yonggin.  

By 2014, around $8.6 million will be invested into the construction of recreation facilitiesaccommodations for tourists. 

Annually, 8 million tourists visit Everland, whichranked 10th worldwide among theme parks. 

450,000 foreign tourists visited this year whicha 43% increase compared to last year. 

Through the construction of the tourism complex, Everland expects to attract 10 million tourists yearlypredicts that it will become a tourist attraction justDisneylandUniversal Studios. 

2. Make an Island You Wish to Go

There are 41 islands in Gyeonggi Province including uninhabited islands. Gyeonggi Province will develop beautiful islands as tourist attractions justthe west coast.

Gyeonggi residents are living on 5 islands including KukhwadoPungdo. There are 5 million households8 million residences on these 5 islands. 

With the exception of Jebu Island, the remaining islands are a part of Gyeonggi Province due to their district structure but they face inconveniences because of unstable sea conditionsGyeonggi Province to the islands. 

There are things to be doneGyeonggi Province in order to develop the islands into tourism resources. 

Gyeonggi Province will develop passenger routes for each island to connect them with nearby Gyeonggi areas. Also to attract tourists, it plans to construct facilities for tourists to experience fishing villages. 

Jeongok Port, a small port in the west coast, received worldwide attention through the International Boat ShowWorld Yacht Competition. Gyeonggi Province will try its best to make the west cost the biggest tourist attraction in Koreadeveloping the islands into tourism resources. 

3. Common Folks Have to Live 1st Smile Microcredit Bank Opened

The ‘Smile Microcredit’ project allows the low income groups to receive loans without any collateral. The first private smile microcredit bank in which funds were donatedcompanies, opened in Suwon.

The 1st Samsung Smile Microcredit Bank opened its doors for those with low incomes who need to borrow money at a lower interest rate without collateral. 

Samsung Smile Microcredit Bankthe first private Smile Microcredit Bank to receive fundscompanies to support common folks with loans for them to independently start a business. 

Samsung will donate $25.5 million a year, $255 million for 10 years. 

Those in the low incomelow credit rating group found it difficult to utilize institutional banks. Smile Microcredit will be a social tem tool for them. 

4. Share Happiness Through Lunch Boxes

Self-support workers help people in need. High level officials in Gyeonggi Province stepped up to provide lunch boxes through a self-supporting project for people in need.

High level officials in Gyeonggi Province visited neighbors in need,gave out lunch boxeswere able to take a good look at the difficult situation. 

Blissful lunch boxes were provided to hungry people in cooperation with the government, companies, local governmentscivil groups. Italso a social project that helps people with employment.  

18 workers including 10 Seongnam Community workers go around 13 areas in Seongnam to provide 550 free lunch boxes to hungry children. 

5 districts in Gyeonggi Province, Seongnam, Namyang, Pochon, AnsanBucheon, are practicing neighborly love through providing the Blissful Lunch Box Project for people in need.  

Gyeonggi Province plans to support 12th graders who are worn outtheir studies or underprivileged groups such as those who arereceiving aid in the northern part of Gyeonggi. 

5. LaborManagement Cooperation Category, President Award Winner

Gyeonggi Province won the president`s award as it was ed as an excellent labormanagement cooperation province.

To revitalize the region’s labormanagement condition, the ministry of labor promoted an evaluation for an excellent labormanagement cooperation province.

Among the 12 municipals, Gyeonggi Province won the Metropolitan Municipal Category President Award. 

Bucheon was ed for the foundation municipal category president award. Gyeonggi Province was able to receive president awards in provincecounty categories.  

Gyeonggi Province will improve labormanagement cooperationeconomy through people focused labormanagement mutual compromise. 

The nation’s first public institutions labormanagement mutual compromise took place in May. 

Through employment support programs, the contribution of job creation improved. 

Gyeonggi Province, which presented itself as a labormanagement mutual compromise role model, plans to contribute to a labormanagement partnership through practicing various projects next year.  

6. Baek Nam-jun Art Center Awarded Contractor Award

The Baek Nam-jun Art Center opened October 2008 to pay tribute to the late media artist Baek Nam-jun. 

This center was awarded the ‘Good Construction Award’ presentedthe Ministry of Land, TransportMaritime Affairs this year. 

Before the construction, the late Baek Nam-jun participated in the sketch plan.  

Walls were made of glass which can utilize solar heatingthe interior was designed to feel artistic work at a glance with a modern atmosphere. 

The award will play a big role in advancing the culture of construction as it focused on creativityinnovation without taking into consideration the scale of the project or name value. It also focused on projects which can be a model for future projectsthe public sector. 

7. Gyeonggi Province-3rd
Military Headquarter Policy Conference

Gyeonggi Province together with the 3rd Military Headquarter, responsible for Gyeonggi Province’s safety, held a third policy conference. Lets find out their policies for next yearwhat they achieved this year.

Gyeonggi Province plans to harmonize safetydevelopmentsharing related laws for the exercise of property rights within the protected arearegional development. 

In the June 2008 conference, the construction of the DMZ Peace Parkbicycle path for energy savings were brought uputed. Until now, 26 issues have been uted. 

The Province will provide a plan for the safetycomfort of the residents in Gyeonggi Province through working closely with the military.
