1. Closing Ceremony of G Food Show Seonghwang-ri

G Food Show, the representative food exhibition in Korea celebrated its closing ceremony for the third time this year. 

[Report] 
The 3rd G Food Show held its closing ceremony in Seonghwang-ri under the theme ‘Gyeonggi Provincea Green Table’ 

In spite of the swine flu outbreak, over 200,000 visitors came to the food show participated100 domestic distributorsexporters. 

Gyeonggi Province was able to bind export contracts with 16 companies in 12 countries such as the United StatesGermany. 

Gyeonggi Province was able to present the future of local environmentally friendlyorganic agriculture through this event for the upcoming 2011 Organic World Congress. 

Gyeonggi Province started the G Food Show in 2007 to increase the international competitiveness of environment-friendlyorganic agriculture. It intensively shows the presentfuture ofonly Gyeonggi`s agriculture but also of the nation’s. 

2. DMZ as a Global Brand

As the interest of the DMZ, the only divided land in the world, grows, a civic group was formed to bring about the DMZ as a national brand.

For 50 years no one was able to step inside the DMZ. However, due to its eco-cultural value, itnow recognized as a land full of life. 

A civic group was formed to promotepreserve the DMZ which has ecological value as a national brand. 

DMZ United Future will perform organized research on the status of the ecotem, register the DMZ as a UNESCO World Heritageopen a DMZ peace forum in 2010. 

3. Women Step Forward to Practice Green Living Culture

Women in Gyeonggi Province made a resolution to practice green living. 

[Report] 
Discarded curtains are reborn as shopping bags. 

Electricityproducedpedaling bicycles. 

Gyeonggi Women opened the G Korea resolution convention to carry out green livingchanging the paradigm of green life. 

Green living codes of conduct were presented in the event which consisted of 2,000 participants of women representatives31 citiesdistricts of Gyeonggi Provincegreen life activists. 

The participants pledged to reduce greenhouse gas exhaustsriding bicyclesto practice green living to protect the environment. 

Moreover, the use of recyclable materialsbicycle power to generate electric energy during the Nanta performance d quite a stir among the participants. 

The resolution conventionexpected to strengthen the will of Gyeonggi women to practice green living. 

4. GTX, Flying in Literature

Through literary works, the GTX which expects to bring about a revolution in metropolitan transportation thatable to realize people’s expectationsdesires. 

[Report] 
The ‘I love Gyeonggi’ essay competition which incorporates the expectationsdesires of the GTX (the Great Train Express) showed a high number of applicationsincredible works of literature. 

Under the supervision of the Gyeonggi Urban Innovation CorporationOctober 26th to the 30th, the competition progressed with the theme ‘Metropolitan Transportation Revolution, Amusing Imagination of GTX.’ 

By naturallyeasily expressing the advantages of using the GTX through solid cases, Lee Shin-chang was honored with first prize. 

2 excellence awards3 appreciation awards were given for the ideasexpectations of the GTX as well.  

Essays of the grand prizeexcellence winners will be published in the DecemberJanuary Korean general literary magazine supervisedthe New Korean Literature Association, whichan opportunity to step into the literary world. 

Itexpected that the Great Train Express, GTX, will be a transportation means which makes the dreams of metropolitan residents come true.  

5. Increase in Delinquent Medical Fee Payers

Due to the economic recession, many patients areable to pay their medical expenses. A solutionsdesperately sought for this issue. 

[Report] 
Thereno space to spare in hospitals startingmorning due to those who come to the hospital because of swine flu. 

Due to the economic depression, the number of patients who areable to pay their medical fees has increased substantially. 

Until September, 6 provincial medical care centers such as SuwonUijongbu are facing 992 cases of delinquent medical fees, which shows an increase of 300 cases compared to last year. 

Private hospitals face the same problem. 

Suwon St. Vincent Hospital faces 472 cases whichworth $335 million worth of delinquent medical bills this year. 

As therean increase in patients who have problems with paying their medical bills, hospitals are using their own funds for urgent aid. 

Gyeonggi Province will invest $520,000 for people living below middle classwithin the low income group to put more effort in the medical expenses support project. 

Many people wereable to go to the hospital even though they were sick due to the continuous economic recession.
Warm caremuch interest are needed for them. 

6. Women Workers Child Care Expenses Provided

Gyeonggi Province will provide a child care expense support to women who work to lighten the burden of bringing up children.

Gyeonggi Province actively stepped up to support women workers.
$31.2 million were invested to support 23 months of child care expenses. 

If one wants to receive aid, one has to go to a community center closest to their addresssubmit a letter of employmentchild’s birth certificate. 

This year in Gyeonggi Province, 17,000 were able to receive child care support.  

Gyeonggi Province hopes that through this project, the serious social problem of low fertility will be solvedthat women can be more active in economic activity. 

7. Discussion on the Creation of a Low Carbon Green Village

Gyeonggi Province held a discussion on the creation of a green village which emphasized a low carbon green growth project. 

[Report] 
A discussion was held to propose various ways to a low carbon green village through green technologyto reduce the discharge of carbon dioxide whichthe main cause of global warming. 

During the discussion, Hwacheon, Gangwon Province was ed as a test region as a low carbon green village. 

7 foreign low carbon green village examples were introduced. 

The success of expanding 260 specialized test projects2013creating a low carbon green village depends on the interestsactive participation of central government, local governmentscivilians.
