Gyeonggi Province operated public relations academy courses four times this year to enhance communication with citizens through active public relations of provincial government.

Civil servants who are used to administrative work will find public relations courses interesting.
In order to develop the minds of civil servants towards public relations, Gyeonggi Province entered into an agreement with Hanyang University to start a public relations academy course this March.

2. Revitalization of the Spirit of Practical Science

Shilhak Museum opened for the researchintroduction of Joseon Dynasty practical science. Gyeonggi Province plansonly to construct the museum but also to revitalize the spirit of positivistic scientific method.

3. Gyeonggi Inoori, Mentor for the Multi Cultured Home

The Gyeonggi Inoori campaign, set up for multi-cultural families to experience Gyeonggi Province, opened a ceremony for the closing of the last year’s performancea pledge for next year’s campaign.

Around 3,000 childrenmulticultural homes were able to experience Gyeonggi Province attractionsenjoy our countrythe culture of Gyeonggi Provincelast March.
Prizes were given to the excellent participantsvolunteershonors were given to the companies during the closing ceremony of the Inoori campaign.
The Gyeonggi Inoori campaign was positively appraised for increasing the confidence of childrenmulti cultured homes living in Korean society.
The Gyeonggi Inoori campaignexpected to be an event which will help our society to accept multicultural families.
4. DMZ Film Festival Shows High Potential

The first DMZ documentary film festival ended after 5 days4 nightspledged to host another festival next year.

The 1st DMZ International Documentary Festival with the theme of peace, communicationlife ended after long 5 days.
The 1st DMZ international documentary festival was held at the DMZ, the only place in the world only placenature features have been kept for 60 years.
The closing ceremony comprised of awards in the international competition section, celebration performancesa screening of award winning films.
The grand award went to an Israel director Yoav Shamir`s work called Defamation.
In light of the film festival, together with the peach march, a cinema opened in Daesong village whichthe only village near the DMZ with civilians.
Though the festival waswell knownwas held in Paju, reviews showed that there was high potential for the International Documentary Festival.
The experience of the 1st DMZ International Documentary Festivalexpected to be the first step in approaching audiences.
5. DMZ Peace Bicycle Parade

A bicycle parade was held to contribute to the DMZ International Documentary Festival.
It was a meaningful event as the border line restricted for civilians was opened for the parade.

The DMZ Peace bicycle parade was held along the beautiful scenery of the Imjin riverthe border line.
100 participants cycled a 15km routereunification bridgethe military crossroad intersection, Chopyeongdo entranceMajongriMintongseon fence embankment.
This event prepared people to experience the meaning of peace, communicationlife.
Kim Mun-su, the Gyeonggi provincial governorCho Jae-hyun, the chairman of the DMZ International Documentary Festival spent valuable time at this event.
This event left valuable memories to those who experienced cycling around the DMZ restricted area.
6. Expansion of Gyeonggi University Business Incubation Center

Continuos unemployment problem due to the economic crisis has forced Gyeonggi Province take steps in creating jobs through business revitalization. Gyeonggi University stated that they too were expanding their business incubation center.

The Gyeonggi University Business Incubation Centerexpanding their scale to take responsibility for the establishment of companiesstart up companies.
$2.5 million won was invested in the operation. The center will expanda basement floor to 7 floors, 22 rooms to 40 rooms in which the rooms will be expanded15 pyeong to 17 to 61 pyeong
The center plans to support companiesbusinessfinancial consultancy to exploiting markets through one stop service.
Companies that wish to move into the center will be ed according to the Gyeonggi University specialization ITBTdesign fields. When ed, companies will be able to benefitGyeonggi University`s excellent facilitieshigh quality man power, operation expensesmore.
Currently, there are 29 companies in the centerafter the expansion, around 20 companies will be able to move into the center. This will be an opportunity for Gyeonggi Province to around 200 jobs.
7. Operation of Distance Learning System

A telecommunications relay service for those who cannot hear or talk has been introduced. A new issue that grabbed our attentiona university distance learning tem for students with hearing disabilities.

Class lectures are transmitted through sign language on monitorsmessages.

Videovoice data are transmittedinterpreted on a real time basis through sign languagemessages.
Disabled students who wish to utilize the distance learning tem can apply to the Korea National College of Rehabilitation & Welfare through the Disabled Student Support Center of any university. Students will then receive the required machines through the university.
Korea National College of Rehabilitation & Welfare also operates the assistive technology center for disabled students.
Around 1,000 free rental assistive machines are available for disabled students.
Gyeonggi Province donated around $134,000 to build the center. However, only $24,000 of the budget were reported this year which makes it difficult to support. Itneeded for Gyeonggi Province to continuously take interest in supporting the education of disabled students.
