3. Korea-China Undersea Tunnel, Connecting Northeast Asia

The Gyeonggi Research Institute hosted a seminar to discuss the construction visioneconomic causeseffects of the Korea-China undersea tunnel.
The Gyeonggi Research Institute proposed 4 tunnel routesChina, Weihai City to Incheon, Hwaseong, Pyeongtaek, DangjinOngjin with the assumption of improving Northeast relations. The constructionexpected to cost between $64 billion$109 billion for each route.
The Korea-China undersea tunnel constructionexpected to generate $102.6 billion dollars for Korea, $133.3 billion dollars for China$76 billion for Japan. All three countries are estimated to generate a production effect of $243.6 billion dollars.
With the use of the undersea tunnel, itexpected to take 1 hour 57 minutesSeoul to Weihai, 4 hours 26 minutes to Beijing5 hours 31 minutes to Shanghai. Taking into consideration the timecosts involved with air travel, analysis shows that therea competitive advantage with the undersea tunnel.
The construction of the Korea-China undersea tunnel will have a positive impact on the economic growth of the three Northeast Asia countries through the revitalization of trade between KoreaChina.
Gyeonggi as the hub of the Northeast Asia exchange will promote researchpolicy development for the construction of the Korea-China undersea tunnel.
4. Gyeonggi Traditional Liquor, Popular Tourist Product

The Gyeonggi Research Institute announced a proposal for the development of Gyeonggi traditional liquor which has sufficient growth potential in the tourism market.
The tourism resources for Gyeonggi traditional liquor will bring forth economicnon-economic effects.
The economic effects include job creation for residents, an increase in regional income,a synergy effect for related industries. The non-economic effects are cultural exchanges, tourists attractions, cultural globalizationincreased sense of patriotism.
The challenges are ▲promoting standardized, diversified, high quality traditional liquor ▲forming a trail of tourism for traditional liquor ▲developing product packages in conjunction with tourism resources ▲prepare a culturaltourist attraction as a traditional liquor theme ▲develop foodliquor glasses that best suit the traditional liquor.
Gyeonggi started promoting traditional liquor in year 2008this year, the Gyeonggi Institute of Agriculture self developed sweet potato makgeolli (rice wine)achieved success in exporting the product to Japan.

5. Social Welfare Centre in need of support

We have introduced the ‘Self-help Promotion’for the homeless. There now seems to be an urgent need for support to enlarge the center as it cannot accommodatethe homeless.

Since its inception in 2007, The Homeless Welfare Center provided eligibility for some homeless to live at the center they have saved enough contribution allowances through participating in the self-help program.
Each room contains almostthe necessary home appliances fit for living. With a 1.7 million won deposit50 thousand won monthly rent, most of those who participate in the ‘Self-help Promotion’ hope they can reside here.
However, it can only accommodate 15 people. There are 60 homeless people who participate in this program, so the accommodations are extremely limited at best.
Family members of the residents are allowed to comego to the center. They are Non-Smoking only, but it facilitates free medical checkups once a month in the public health center which helps with the psychological health of the homeless.
Maetan-dong in Gyeonggi provinceplanning to facilitate the 10th Residential Centre but, with an estimated $22,000 per year, it will be difficult to provide realistic assistance for the ‘Self-help Promotion’ for the homeless.
6. Opening Ceremony of the Gyeonggi Ssangyong Motors Assistants

A writing contest will be held – the Gyeonggi Metropolitan Transport Revolution, “GTX” as the subject matter. If you are chosen as a winner,onlythere a prize, but you could also have a chance to be part of literary circles.

One piece of writing with a word limit of under 2000 words, or three A4 pages of your own individual work can be submitted.
The winner will receive $2650 in cash, second place will receive $1770, $440 for third place,each participant will receive a Literature Gift Certificate of 30 thousand won.
The winning writing piece will also receive a chance to be published in the Korean Writers’ Magazine issuedThe Korean Literature Association.
This competition hopes to promote a chance to gain public interest in the GTX as it has the essentialnecessary infrastructure towards creating a megacity.
