1. NEAR holds practice commission

The practice commission of The Association of North East Asia Regional Governments NEAR) was held in Gyeonggi.

The 7th practice commission of The Association of North East Asia Regional Governments(NEAR) was held for four days since September 22 in Suwon, Gyeonggi.

Launched in 1996, The Association of North East Asia Regional Governments, composed of 69 Local Autonomous Entitiessix countries including the NorthSouth KoreasChina, has been interchanging in areas such as EconomyEnvironments.

The member nations discussed on the methods of 2010 meeting which will take place in Goyang, at the Korea International Exhibition Center(KINTEX).

Gyeonggi decided to proceed the 2010 meetingG-fair at the same time in order for more foreign companies to participate.

2. $26million-scale `Green Growth Fund`

Gyeonggi has decided to manage a `Green Growth Fund` intended to foster the growth of environmental industries such as renewable energy.

Gyeonggi plans to compose a $26 million `Green Growth Fund.`

`Green Growth Fund`to support the companies related to renewable energycarbon reduction.

Gyeonggi, with KTKT capital, concluded a contract on the organization of the Fund.

Currently, there are around 670 `Green Growth` companies in Gyeonggi, including 350 photovoltaic companies30 Bio-companies, which15% of Korea`s Green Growth industry.

Since most Green Growth-related companies are newly emerging smallmedium enterprises which require research development, the `Green Growth Fund` would be a definite utility.

3. “Study Masters,” in charge of the young students

Seriously-disabled people are now able to visit their homes comfortably.

Shin tae-hwan, a first class physically disabled, will be leaving for his home town, Goheung, Jeonnam, for the first time in 11 years.

For Chuseok, Gyeonggi operated 31 lift cars for seriously disabled people.

This event, plannedthe Kyeonggi Association of Persons with Physical Disablitities, was intended to be of service to disabled people`s home visiting.

The service will be offered starting on September 29, till October 6. One could choose the departure&return date thatpleased.

Like the conveyance provided during the last new year season, Gyeonggi has been providing such services beforewill continue in the future.

5. Carbon-neutralizing forestation at Yongin

Gyeonggi planned out to a forest to reduce carbon dioxideprevent global warming.

In order to reduce carbon dioxide, one of the biggest cause of global warming, Gyeonggi province, Gyeonggi Agricultural Foundation,KB Kukmin Bank had an greement ceremony on Carbon Neutrality Forest MOU.

7ha of province-own forest at Namsa-myeon, Yongin has been ed as the site for the carbon-neutral forest.

Accordingly, starting form this October three planters will be invitedcarbon neutralizing forestation wouldin November.

lily trees, which absorb 3.3 times more carbon than pine trees, are to be planted in the forest.

Along with the `Green Growth Policy`, Gyeonggi has made cleared their objective as healthy city.

6. Forum Held to Develop Social Business Networks

A forum with peopledifferent backgrounds was held to develop social businesses.

The forum was attended105 social businesses in Gyeonggi, along with large corporations, colleges,research institutes.

Gyeonggi Provicne discussed the present, rolespartnerships of social businesses.

There are 43 social businesses.

But there are about 130 quasi-social businesses that haveyet be certified.

Gyeonggi Province will make use of about $411,000 to provide support to quasi-social businesses.

It was meaningful that this forum could discuss the difficulties experienced at this forum. Weneed to take more of an interest in expanding social businesses, which act as a social net for the working class.

7. Up to $840 Provided for Business Workshops

Gyeonggi Province will provide up to $840 to businesses in Gyeonggi that hold workshops.

The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization decided to provide up to $840 per person as an incentive.

The support costs will include training facilitiesprogram costs.

Companies eligible for the support have 20 or more employeesshould applyDecember this year.

Applications can be made after downloading the support application formthe E-thank you site runthe Gyeonggi Tourism Organizationthen submitted to the GTO`s domestic project team.

About 50 Gyeonggi training facilities located across 15 citiestown in the province have already been registered or are in the process.

Gyeonggi Province sees this as a chance to make widely known the support of the Gyeonggi tourism support with businesses throughout the country conducting training in facilities with some of the most spectacular natural surroundings in Gyeonggi.
