[Expanding on Friendly Exchange]

Liaoning Sheng, China, which has an ongoing friendship with Gyeonggi sent an envoy to visit the province.

The vice-governor of Liaoning Sheng, China, Chen Zheng Gao visited Gyeonggi Province.

Provincial governor Kim Mun-suvice governor Chen have last met last year in October.

Over pleasant conversation, Provincial Governor Kim Mun-su asked the Liaoning Sheng vice-governor to work together to overcome the global recession affecting ChinaKorea,to build a more friendly cooperation in economic fields.

He also proposed expanding exchanges between the two countries through exchanges in environmental fieldsyouth exchanges.

Following this, Vice Governor Liaoning Sheng agreed with the provincial governor`s proposalwould alsoto see a smooth exchange of cultureathletics.

[Joining Forces for Canal]

Next month construction will be completed on the Seoul-Incheon canal. Three local autonomies have concluded an agreement for the mutual cooperation of the project.

Gyeonggi Province, SeoulIncheon decided to join forces for the Seoul-Incheon Canal that will connect the Han River to Incheonthe sea.

Following this agreement the 3 autonomies will cooperate in carrying out development projects related to the canal. They have decided to expand the surface transportation network with a road that will run alongside the canal.

Also, the group will make efforts to preserve the environmentecology alongside the canaldecided to work towards developing culturetourism resources.

The Seoul-Incheon Canal starting in Gangseo-gu, Seoul will pass through Kimpo,Bucheonrunthe way to Incheon through the 18km Gulpocheon watering project. Most of the project willin Juneis planned to be completedtheof 2011.

Gyeonggi Province plans to fortify the distribution network in Northeast Gyeonggi Provincebuilding a port terminal in the vicinity of KimpoIsanpo nearby the canal.

[Hands-on Dairy Farming]

Marketing for the `year of the cow` has already begun. A hands-on experienceparticipants can have various experiences relating with cowsgrowing in popularity.

The once quiet cattle ranch has come alive after introducing a hands-on experience for visitors.

Children living in the city who never get a chance to see dairy cows run backforth bringing hay to the cows.

Some children feed a calf with a milk bottle.

Also at the farm, time was set aside for the children to make cheesefresh milk.

Stretching the cheesehand was a unique experience for the children.

Since 2007, Gyeonggi Province has provided support for hands-on dairy farms to encourage physical leisure activities for residentsto give a boost to farming communities.

At present there are just 4 farms providing the hands-on experience in Yongin, but 2 more are preparing to open soon.

The Dairy Farm experience provides memoriesfragrances to city dwellers,brings new vitality to farming communities.

[South Han River Eco-belt]

Gyeonggi Province plans to carry out the South Han River clean-up project related with the government`s 4 large river revitalization project along with an eco-belt.

At the 9th `Learn about Places in Gyeonggi` event Provincial Governor Kim Mun-su along with 70 civil servants observed a place around the South Han River.

The purpose of this exploration was to inspect the eco-belt, which makes up 53.2 km of South Han River f개m Kangcheon-myeon, Yeoju to Yangpyeong.

Provincial Governor Kim emphasized making use of historical documents nearby Silleuksa Temple, restoring the Jopo ferryother sites nearby to build a distinguishing tourism infrastructure.

Also, the province will spend a total of $1.28 billion on 178 projects of 19 different types for the clean-up of the South Han River.

After the clean-up Gyeonggi Province expects the eco-belt to improve the life of residents nearbythe restored South Han River to become a new growth engine in the future.

The hands-on English center at this school offers free class to any elementary school students in the province for the morning session. The only cost for the afternoon sessionfor the course book, so the student`s response for this course has been very good.

[Counting Calories]

It has been made mandatory in Suwon for restaurant menus to display the number of calories in their offerings.

This allows customers to check the amount of calories in their drinks.

At present only fast food restaurants, coffee shopsother such shops are requiredthe KFDA to list nutritional information, but general restaurants arerequired to do so.

However, Suwon has become the first local autonomy in the country to make mandatory the listing of nutritional information for restaurants in the city.

The city first held a trial run after a fact-finding survey of about 300 major restaurants. After that it will includerestaurants in the city to adhere to the new rules.
