[The Reality of Recession]
Gyeonggi Provincial Governor Kim Mun-su spent one day driving a taxi to learn more about the public`s welfare.
On the 27th, the last day of the Lunar Holiday, Provincial Governor Kim Mun-su experienced a day in the life of a taxi driver.
Meeting with residents directly to get an idea of their public welfare, Provincial Governor Kim acquired a taxi driver`s license last month, making him eligible to drive a cab.
Most passengers that climbed in his cab that day complained of the economic crisis. He also heard various suggestions on the matter in a restauranthe stopped for lunch.
After driving the taxi for almost 12 hours Provincial Governor Kim made $65.
After taking out expenses for gasmoney paid to the taxi company, $17 wasthat was left. Provincial Governor Kim now understood what economic difficulty wasabout for taxi drivers.
At theof last year the transporation policy division employees experienced driving a taxi first handformed policy regarding that experience.
We look forward to the voices of those on site to reflect the policies that can overcome this economic crisis.
[Budgeting `Every Last Penny`]
The contract inspection division appeared to have acheived some great results in the reduction of various business expenses paid forthe province.
The Gyeonggi Province Contract Division works to reduce exorbant spending on contractors for construction, services or products requestedthe province.
This time the money saved on the budgetrolled back into stimulating the local economy creating jobsother projects for the security of the working class.
Last year the newly established contract inspection division saved the province $85.5 million in 4 months.
This amount represents 10% of the total budgetis the greatest savings among 15 metropolitan local autonomies.
Through contract inspections, the province sees it posible to save more than $179.8 millionuse the savings to expand its budget for the care projectother projects that support the working class.
[Development of LED Industry]
The Metropolitan LED Fusion Technology Support Center, established to support the LED industry, held its commencement ceremony. The center opened its doors in Gwanggyo, Suwon.
LED`s which are semiconductors used in converting energy into lightsendingreceiving signals have a wide array of practical useseverythingtraffic signals to electric signslighting.
The world LED marketexpected to grow to $22.6 billion. Last year`s domestic market stood at $1.15 billion.
As a related industry the Korea Advanced Nano Fab Center jointly held the LED Fusion Technology Support Center.
The LED Fusion Technology Support Center has plans to carry out the technical supportindustry support work after building techno complex cooperative temsregion.
Mean 26%, or 39 of the 151 LED related businesses in the country are located in Gyeonggi Province.
It looks as the LED market will be getting plenty of help with its development.
[School Land Solution]
Gwanggyo New City was faced with the possibility of becoming a new city without any schools. However, through a settlement between the parties involved, the problem has been solved.
Gyeonggi Province, the city of Suwonother parties involved in the Gwanggyo New City have agreed to provide the Gyeonggi Ministry of Education with land to build schools.
Such a decision was reached after 5 stages of agreements among the parties involved with a mutual agreement of forfeiting development profits.
Accordingly,schools should openmove-in whichscheduled for April, 2011.
Further, work willon the schoolssometime around January of next year addressing any concerns about the schools.
[Book Reading Family]
How many books do you read in one month․ We wouldyou to meet the `book family` which reads more than 70 books a month.
It isan unfamiliar sight to see this family seated together reading books.
Recently Kim Jin-hun`s family was ed as a `book reading family` in the second half of 2008the Seongnam Central Library.
The eldest daughter Se-eun likes reading more than studying.
The youngest daughter Min-seong has the most fun when being read tomom.
In the past six months this family has read 434 books, an average of more than 70 per month.
The family reading movementbeing carried out to increase families contact with booksto increase the public`s familiarity with the library.
In the future, we hope this campaign can help harmony among family membersin creating an atmosphere of reading.
[Protecting Farmers` Joints]
Gyeonggi Province has stepped in for the prevention ofkinds of troubles plaguing farmers.

However, thanks to recent helpthe Gyeonggi Agricultural Technology Center with installing a ceiling hanging cart, the work has become much easier.
At a nearby Agricultural Technology Center a gymnastics class intended for village residentsbeing offered in time for the off-season for farmers.
Here they learn movements that help loosen up stiff joints, shouldersknees resultingthe strenuous, repetitive work.
The Gyeonggi Agricultural Technology Center provided supplementary equipment, preventative educationother support since 2006.
This year it plans to spend about $719,000 of its budget in those areas.
