[Blood Donations of Love]

Icheon Gyeonggi is holding a resident-wide blood drive for the first time in Korea. And there was a large turnout.

The Icheon City Hall’s Grand Hall is crowded with those who came for the blood drive; it’s the blood drive of love to help emergency patients who need blood transfusions. Blood needed for such patients has been decreasing each year.

Hynix, military bases, Icheon has seen it’s share of challenges. At those times our residents helped out so much, how could we ever repay them.. (was how the blood drive got started.)

Icheon’s blood drive began from the middle of March, and has had about 1800 donors until now.
Many public servants participated in this event from Icheon city civil servants to employees of various public agencies.

It would be useful when short on blood, we also never know what might happen to us…(at that time we can be helped..)

The blood gathered at the 7 hour blood drive is planned to be used for patients suffering from leukemia, and other patients who require a transfusion.

[Unite the Frontier Districts]

The frontier districts are important areas that have acted as a security buffer zone. Yet, there are still many such places that have fallen behind due to a lack of various government regulations and support. A joint countermeasure has been prepared by local autonomies.

People with interests in Gyeonggi’s Paju, Kimpo, Yeoncheon, Gangwon’s Cheolwon, Icheon’s Ganghwa 10 areas in total gathered together. A council was established that will cover frontier district’s balanced development, and drive the efficiency of the administration, as well as the districts’ markets, and military management.

The council discussed joint countermeasures for a joint development proposal, and the easing of regulations for frontier districts.

We have to build a system of mutual cooperation for frontier districts to become the center of economic development in Korea, and develop various activities to draw government support.

The importance of frontier districts was emphasized in the future era of unification.

Frontier districts)have suffered greatly in the past, however, in the future these districts will be the brightest, and most hopeful.

The council will help the frontier districts shed their image as alienated regions and lead joint development for improving economic development and the welfare of citizens.
