Spring Flower Tours
for Asian Tourists in Gyeonggi Province

To overcome the downturn of the domestic tourism industry due to China’s economic retaliation for THAAD (Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system), Gyeonggi Province has launched a spring flower tour package targeting Asian tourists from Taiwan, Hong Kong, and the Philippines.
On April 10, the provincial government announced the spring flower tour package, which is designed to attract tourists from Taiwan and Hong Kong in cooperation with the Korea Tourism Organization and eight travel agencies including COLA Tours and Lion Travel, the largest tour agencies in Taiwan, as well as Sunflower Travel, Tour Package, and EGL in Hong Kong.
In addition to induce the increasing number of tourists from the Philippines, the travel package ‘Let’s Go Gyeonggi-do’ has been created in collaboration with seven Philippine travel agencies including Horizon Travel & Tours, Pan • Pacific Travel, and Pioneer Travel and Tours.
The package includes tourist attractions featuring spring flowers and popular spots – including Ilsan Lake Park, Suwon Hwaseong, Seoho Park, Everland, Ho-Am Art Museum, Azalea Park on Mt. Wonmisan in Buchcheon City, the Provence Village in Paju, the Garden of Morning Calm in Gapyeong, Gwangmyeong Cave, and Starfield Hanam – from May to June of this year.
Through the program, tourists can visit attractive spots to enjoy flowers blooming in spring while also experiencing the culture and history of Gyeonggi Province and the surrounding areas.
Of particular note, Suwon City will sell gift certificates redeemable at traditional markets so as to enable tourists to experience traditional market foods.
The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization expects to draw a total of 5,950 tourists – 2,400 tourists from Taiwan, 3,000 tourist from Hong Kong, and 550 tourists from the Philippines – to the province with the tour program.
