Gyeonggi Province announced on April 24 that it is seeking new trainees to participate in the 2018 Gyeonggi Youth+4 Trade Manager program – a foster project designed to nurture trade specialists.

The Gyeonggi Youth+4 Trade Manager foster project has been held by Gyeonggi Province every year since 2016 in an effort to address the mismatch existing between export companies that have trouble hiring adept workers and youths of all nationalities and backgrounds who seek employment, consequently strengthening the competitiveness of export industries and creating a virtuous cycle of job creation.

This year, an estimated 150 trainees will be selected and divided into four classes of approximately 40 people, with each class being conducted in a different language, including Chinese and English.

This program consists of a two-month in-house training session from July to August after the trainees have participated in online lectures. In-house training will be held in various locations for participant convenience: a southern site (Suwon), a central site (Seoul), a northern site (Uijeongbu), and a multicultural site (Suwon).

Trainees will have the opportunity to learn useful business practices through special lectures on trade, contracts, payments, online marketing, business negotiation strategies, and foreign languages with this organized education program led by trade specialist lecturers.

A certificate of completion will be issued to all trainees under the name of the Governor of Gyeonggi Province, and a certificate of merit will be presented to those who have good grades, along with the opportunity to participate in internships at companies within the province and overseas marketing projects undertaken in the province (e.g. G-FAIR, buyer’s meetings). They will also receive job placement.

With this year’s Gyeonggi Youth+4 Trade Manager foster project, Gyeonggi Province expects to establish a virtuous system that will lead to a recovery of the export economy, job creation and economic revitalization through the support of a superior export workforce among local export enterprises that are suffering from protectionist trends.

To register for this program, one must be a youth, a university student, a foreign student or from a multicultural family, reside in Gyeonggi Province, and able to speak English, Chinese, Japanese or Vietnamese. Applications will be accepted online at Jobaba, via an in-person visit to the Gyeonggido Job Foundation, or by post (Youth Planning Team, 4th Fl., 143, Bucheon-ro, Bucheon-si, Gyeonggi-do) until May 25.
