– Videos with Korean and English subtitles to be posted online on April 10, 17 and 24
– Accessible anytime through Gyeonggi social media, such as the province’s lifelong-learning website GSEEK and the Gyeonggi-do Cyber Library.
Gyeonggi Province will broadcast English musicals online starring native English speakers to support the study of English among elementary, middle and high school students who have difficulty engaging in collective education due to COVID-19.
The program is designed to allow viewers to watch three musicals at home – Hansel and Gretel, Anastasia, and Happy Haunting – which are all familiar to preschoolers and teenagers.
Gyeonggi plans to release Hansel and Gretel on April 10, Anastasia on April 17, and Happy Haunting on April 24 via its lifelong-learning website GSEEK (https://www.gseek.kr) and the Gyeonggi-do Cyber Library (https://www.library.kr). The musicals are available for streaming via computers and mobile devices.
Under the theme of “Have fun studying English,” the online English musicals have been designed to make it easier to learn useful expressions in real situations through singing and dancing.
With Korean and English subtitles, the musicals facilitate ease and familiarity among students studying English.
Kim Neung-sik, Director General of Gyeonggi Province’s Lifelong Education Bureau, said, “We have designed the English musicals for distribution online in consideration of difficulties in collective education due to COVID-19.” He added, “We anticipate that the distribution of quality English learning contents will help narrow the educational gap caused by COVID-19.”
