Worldwide investment in semiconductor equipment expected to hit new high in 2022

SEMI, an industry association comprising businesses involved in semiconductor equipment and material, released its quarterly World Fab Forecast report and expected that global equipment spending will hit a new all-time high of $103 billion this year. It is 14% up from the record-high number in 2021, marking the third consecutive year of growth. Taiwan is expected to lead fab equipment spending in 2022, increasing investments 56% YoY to $35 billion, followed by South Korea at $26 billion, a 9% rise.
