Gyeonggi Province won the Minister of the Interior and Safety Award at the 2023 Korea Job Awards.
The Korea Job Awards recognize local governments and public institutions that have implemented exceptional employment policies or contributed significantly to the creation of quality jobs in connection with the 2023 Korea Local Government Management Innovation Expo.
A total of 71 local governments and public institutions participated in this year’s expo, which saw the selection of 13 finalists – including 9 local governments and 4 public institutions – through a preliminary document review, an on-site exhibition content review, and a comprehensive review, evaluating the creativity and impact of the employment policies.
Gyeonggi Province was highly commended for its implementation of generation-specific employment projects for young people (job matching, customized recruitment support services, etc.) and baby boomers (operation of the Baby Boomer Job Opportunity Center, seamless job initiatives, etc.), as well as various employment projects to lead the 4th Industrial Revolution and future high-tech industries, such as the Gyeonggi Future Technology School and G-SPEC (Gyeonggi Semiconductor Professional Training Project).
In addition, Gyeonggi earned high praise for setting up an exhibition hall with the Gyeonggi Job Foundation at last month’s expo, providing on-site services for career counselors, and operating the Jobaba (Gyeonggi Job Integration Platform) kiosk.
Ahn Chi-kwon, Director of the Employment and Economic Policy Division of Gyeonggi Province, said, “We are delighted that Gyeonggi Province has been recognized for its outstanding employment policies, such as the generation-tailored employment project and the employment project to respond to future new industries… Moving forward, Gyeonggi Province will continue to promote employment policies that are different from those of other provinces, such as customized support policies for each region and industry, and we will do our utmost to create a ‘Gyeonggi Province full of employment opportunities.'”
The 2023 Korea Local Autonomy Management Innovation Expo ran for three days from November 16 to 18 at KINTEX in Goyang City, receiving more than 9,000 visitors.
