The government held a briefing session on [Growth Power for the New Generation], with the presence of President Moo-hyun Roh and representatives from the Korea Industrial Development Institute and the government at the guest house of the Cheongwadae(Blue House), on Friday, August 22, 10 AM.

According to the new generation growth products chosen by the Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy, Ministry of Science & Technology and the Ministry of Information and Communication, last March, priority 10 items has been chosen through a meeting by private experts and organizations.

* 10 industries to be the developed for the new generation
1.Digital TV/broadcasting, 2.Display, 3.Intelligent robots, 4.Future automobiles, 5.New generation semiconductor, 6.New generation mobile communication, 7.Intelligent home network, 8.Digital contents/SW solution, 9.New generation battery, 10.Bio medicine/artificial organs

These products will be promoted to take-off an advanced economy of a national income of 20,000 dollars. To realize this, national capacity must be concentrated to expand future growth potential.

If these 10 new generation industries successfully expand, an outcome of 102 trillion Won will be created until 2012, 179.7 billion dollars increase in exportation, and also 1.47 million people will get jobs.
This promotion is viewed to be the basis of achieving national income of 20,000 dollars.
