Led by Hak-gyu Sohn, governor of Gyeonggi-do, the Gyeonggi-do Investment Inducement Party will visit Japan from Feb. 16 to 19, to attract investors.
This visit is to urgently induce LCD component companies to move into the 500,000 pyeong high-tech Paju LCD industrial complex that is under smooth construction.
An official from the Gyeonggi-do government commented, “If the LCD line goes over 7 generations, necessary equipment such as glass and optics will be difficult to transfer. Therefore competitive LCD component manufacturers nearby the Paju LCD high-tech industrial complex will be indispensable.”
While in Japan, investment conditions will be presented in detail to Japanese LCD component companies who are interested in establishing factories in Paju and Pyeongtaek. Some companies are expected to decide on their intentions.”
Japanese company A plans to invest 50 million dollars and requested 20,000~30,000 pyeong of building site from the Gyeonggi government.
Company B has tentatively agreed to invest 20 million dollars and asked for about 5,000 pyeong of land within the Paju LCD industrial complex.
With the stride of Japanese investment within the industrial complex, the plan to create a 500,000 pyeong complex in Deogeun-ri, Wollong-myeon and Deogeun-ri, Wollong-myeon in Paju City has been approved within 7 months and construction will start next month.
