To minimize immigration traffic at the Incheon International Airport, an ‘advance immigration system’ will be operated starting in June. 

On May 5th, the Incheon Int’l Airport Corporation (IIAC) has announced an advance immigration system that estimates incoming passengers per hour in advance is to manage passenger traffic and to confirm airport schedule. This system is expected to start in upcoming June. 

IIAC has completed a field report for passenger traffic per hour from Apr. 8 to 15 and also reached an agreement to adjust schedules between airlines and gates. A systematic model plan is also being formed with analysis results on time and airplane schedules. 

The advance immigration system will be executed in June after a pilot operation this month. 

This system will inform airlines, immigration bureaus, airport customs and other related groups of the number of incoming passengers expected to crowd in at a specific time in advance so they can focus on allocating necessary resources at the proper time and place. 

According to the analysis data from last year, a maximum of 8,743,255 incoming passengers has arrived during an afternoon and the peak time is from 6 to 7 a.m. (12%) and from 5 to 6 p.m. (10%). 

An official from the airport said this new system is an extension of the advance passenger notice for departing passengers that has been operating since last Feb.
