o Creation of Pyeongtaek Oseong Complex and Hwaseong Suchon Complex ahead of the schedule

Gyeonggi-do announced that it would create foreigner-exclusive high-tech industrial complexes ahead of the schedule to utilize foreign capitals successfully introduced into the province.

Provincial governor visited the construction site of Geunui Industrial Complex in Hwaseong on September 9 for the Meeting on Early Creation of High-tech Industrial Complexes.” Mayor of Pyeongtaek Song Myeong-ho, Deputy-Mayor of Hwaseong Choi Weon-taek, and persons from KEPCO, KOWACO, and Samchully City Gas as well as the provincial government officials participated in the meeting.

Gyeonggi-do has hosted foreign investment worth $1.1 billion from 40 companies this year. It will construct Oseong Industrial Complex in a 1.3km2-area in Pyeongtaek and Suchon Industrial Complex in a .6 km2-area in Hwaseong to house these investors.

The construction will receive full administrative support in terms of environmental impact evaluation, cultural property survey, and land-usage designation to speed up the process. KEPCO and KOWACO will actively participate in this project to ensure that the complexes benefit from appropriate electricity, water, and city gas supply.

Pyeongtaek and Hwaseong will also make timely compensation for land and obstructions necessary for the construction.

Gyeonggi-do expects that construction of foreigner-exclusive industrial complexes will better the sluggish economy and intensified youth unemployment problems by housing LCD-related companies and high-tech automobile parts companies.
