-In the second half of the year, the Gyeonggi Provincial Office will focus on supportive activities for businesses in the province through the KES (Korea Electronics Show) 2005, the World Korean Business Convention, international trade meetings and road shows for small-sized foreign buyers.
-They are expected to help small-sized exporters advance into world markets and contribute to the regional economy.
It is expected that more than 8,500 foreign-based buyers will visit the province in the second half of the year in connection with world-class industrial exhibitions, including the KES 2005, and international trade meetings.
Having achieved a considerable result from its outbound activities carried out in the first half of the year, including participation in overseas exhibitions held on about thirty occasions or dispatch of trade promotion delegations to major trade partner countries, the provincial office plans to focus on inbound activities, i.e. inviting foreign-based buyers or investors to exhibitions and trade meetings held in the province, in the second half of the year.
According to a provincial official, the fourth World Korean Business Convention is scheduled to be held at the KINTEX for three days from September 13, with 1,500 ethnic Koreans from more than 40 countries attending. Other large-sized exhibitions scheduled to be held at the KINTEX include the Korea Autoparts & Accessories Show 2005 (September 22 ~ 25) and the KES 2005 (October 11 ~ 15), which is one of Top Five exhibitions held in Korea. The three events are expected to attract about 7,500 people, potential buyers, from all over the world.
The provincial office also plans to invite about 1,000 business people out of the 4,500 participating in the 8th World Chinese Entrepreneurs Convention (October 9 ~ 12 in Singapore) to the trade/investment road show held at the KINTEX, in addition to inviting about thirty buyers from Japan, India and the Middle East, respectively, to export road shows to be held on three occasions.
Such are part of the provincial office’s efforts to help small-sized exporters in the province who are currently having difficulty due to the drawn-out recession and shrinkage in investment to be engaged in business talks with foreign-based buyers. The money spent by the visitors will also contribute to the regional economy. Such occasions will also provide good opportunities to publicize the province and the KINTEX, the largest exhibition/convention center in Korea, to foreigners.
The provincial office also plans to hold a job expo during the World Korean Business Convention in cooperation with the Overseas Korean Foundation and the HRD Korea to help youths find job opportunities overseas.
Mr. Kim Myung-sun, Head of International Trade Department said, “In September and October, my employees and I will be very busy, as important international events are concentrated on these months. We will do everything we can for thorough preparations to have the events obtain their desired results.”
