World-class vacuum technology business settles in Hyeongok Complex in Pyeongtaek 

With completion of the factory of ULVAC CRYOGENICS of Japan 
Expected to help produce Korean-made IT/ LCD/PDP-related core devices earlier 

On November 4, the ULVAC Group of Japan which boasts the No.1 vacuum technology in the world held a ceremony for completion of the factory in the Hyeongok Industrial Complex in Pyeongtaek, after the completion of Korea ULVAC, PS Technology, and Korea ULVAC Precision last June. 

With this, the Japanese manufacturer has fulfilled the investment agreement made with the Gyeonggi Provincial Office 14 months ago. 

The factory of ULVAC CRYOGENICS completed this time will manufacture goods with the technology (reputed to be the best in the world) of creating a vacuum space by freezing the gas at an extremely low temperature or shutting it off in a congelation. The vacuum technology is used in a range of sectors, including hi-tech products like semiconductors and LCD, or experiments of spaces ships. 

It is expected that the factory opened in Pyeongtaek will go a long way in enhancing the nation’s competitiveness in the relevant technological sector through production of goods using the new technology. 

In his congratulatory speech at the ceremony, Gyeonggi Governor Sohn Hak-kyu said, “With completion of the factories of the ULVAC Group completed in Pyeongtaek last June and today, the total solution system for production of semiconductors and displays is nearing completion.” 

He added, saying, “For domestic businesses that used to depend on imported goods in the relevant sectors, including FPD and optics, the completion of the ULVAC CRYOGENICS’ factory will be great news. The provincial office will provide all possible administrative support to ULVAC and other foreigner investors so that they may be engaged in their business operation smoothly.”
