– Ground-breaking on May 09(Tue.) at the potential land of a museum located in Sanggal-ri, Giheung-eup, Yongin City
– World first restoration of his work studio wall and exhibition
– Symposium, as an expeditor of media art studies!

Gyeonggi Province will complete the execution drawing of the museum by the end of March and open a ground-breaking ceremony on May 09. Museum will be completed by the latter half of 2007. 

The grounding-breaking ceremony will include the following three events-Paik Nam June Museum Construction Ceremony on Mar. 9 (Tues.), Paik Nam June Exhibition & Symposium on Mar. 10 (Wed.). The exhibition will be the first in the world where Paik Nam June’s studio workroom will be restored and tools and all other items used by him will be exhibited in memory of his artistic lifetime.

Some of his famous works of arts are open to the public with tools and video tapes used during his early artist life. The exhibition will show how the father of video art, Paik Nam June worked.

The Symposium invites young artists who are either studying or wish to participate in Paik Nam June’s video art through free discussion and presentations. Senior artists in Korea will also participate and appraising and reflecting Paik Nam June’s achievements. This event will not only increase people’s interest on Paik Nam June’s art world, but also provide an opportunity to promote research on me

The plan on placing Paik Nam June’s remains will be discussed with his family during the construction of the Paik Nam June Museum.

At the ARCO Art Fair to be held in Madrid, Spain on Feb. 2007, the Gyeonggi-do province plans to hold a special exhibition of Paik Nam June’s arkwork.
