Development of Hallyu-Wood begins!
The Gyeonggi-do Government has chosen A Consortium with Prime Co., Sigong Tech and other companies on Mar. 9, as the first business partners for the “Hallyu-Wood” construction in Goyang.
The provincial office screened through 5 consortiums of a total 182 companies that submitted proposals for the first project of the Goyang Hallyu-Wood and announced the results through a press conference.
A Consortium includes 5 companies for enforcement, Prime Co., •Cheongwon Construction, Idea Construction, Shinsegae and Sigong Tech., and 3 companies for construction, Daewoo Construction, Byuksan Construction and Kumho Industrial Co., and finally 3 financial companies, Nonghyup, Korea Exchange Bank and New World Development. Eleven companies in total are will be participating in shares.
Sanrio Co. (Hello Kitty) and OCT are both committed in theme park management, and 49 companies including SBS Production, KBS Art Vision, Younggu-Art, Korea Entertainment Association, Korea Filmmakers Association, Haansoft and more will be providing cultural contents.
Hallyu-Wood construction will be completed in 2010, and the first project will be focused on promoting locations to enjoy Korean cultural contents, including stages, a film village, an amusement park, shopping malls and cultural facilities.
The second project will be the construction of a 27,000 pyeong complex facility where Korean cultural offices and residences. The third project includes a hotel, commercial facilities, and more.
A total of 879.9 billion Won will be invested in establishing various centers, such as IBC (International Business Center), Hallyu Contents Support Center, Hallyu Museum, and also accommodations, like a monorail, underground parking place, waterside park and theme park facilities until Hallyu-Wood stands complete in 2010.
The provincial government expects an economical effect of 7.7 trillion Won, new jobs to about 58,000 people, and also 6 million tourists in and outside of Korea after Hallyu-Wood is constructed.
