Gyeonggi-do investment promotion agency heading for Japan
Provincial governor Sohn Hak-kyu is leading a team to promote investments for Gyeonggi-do. This investment promotion agency visited Japan from Mar. 23 to 24 to meet up with high-tech companies in Japan.
This team of delegates plans to negotiate and conclude investment agreements with 6 Japanese companies involving semiconductor manufacture, LCD production equipment and parts. If they return successfully, the 98th visit to Japan will result to agreements and negotiations worth 110 million dollars and also jobs for about 500 people.
The team includes officials from the Gyeonggi-do HQ of the Federation of Korean Trade Unions, Samsung, LG Philips executives and members of the provincial government.
Gyeonggi-do holds a record of attracting investments worth 13.4 billion for 93 companies for the last 4 years till this year February. Among these companies, 56 of them are already showing an investment performance rate of 60%.
During the team’s stay in Japan, CEOs and executives from Japanese companies investing in Gyeonggi-do were all available at the investment meeting. This is an exceptional case because of the differenct schedules of each participant. This success shows the administrative services and various support policies provided by Gyeonggi-do has suceeded in winning the hearts of the investors.
A culture performance will also be provided inviting Japanese CEOs and executives. The performance will show a traditional Korean fan dance and Tae-kwondo. The Tae-kwondo masterpiece [The moon2] will show military arts symbolizing metempsychosis ideology. Korean sentiment in the performance is expected to boost investment activities and help publicizing the Hallyu culture.
An official from Gyeonggi-do remarked, “The Hallyu culture was demanded by only teenagers and middle-aged females but now it is time show our real Korean culture.” He also added, “[Bekseju], a Korean liquor exported to Japan will also be provided and will contribute to the occasion.”
The team of delegates will return to Korea on Mar. 24, Friday through Kimpo Airport
