Caris, the Korean headquater for Nakan of Japan who shows a high technology in manufacturing the alignment film coater for LCD, opens its new plant in Hyeongok Unit of Pyeongtaek on the 20th.
There will be approximately 100 VIPs including the governor of Gyeonggi province Sohn Hakkyu, Odajima Takasi, the CEO of Nakan, and many other agencies related, participating in the ceremony for the plant completion.
Nakan located in Chiba is the mother company of Caris who had signed a MOU last May with Gyeonggi Province to build their Korean plant in Gyeonggi region. After the ground breaking in last December, construction work for the Caris plant is now completed.
Major attractions of Gyeonggi for Nakan would be the well-prepared infrastructure, superior human resources, and positive support provided to the foreign companies. Also having its plant in Gyeonggi will aid them to create friendlier environment to deal with Samsung Electronics and LG Philips who are the key customers of Caris.
Nakan started as a small iron foundry in 1937, became the world first manufacturer for 4-color calibrator in 1986 that is the auto deploying device for computer. Today they are highly recognized for their competitive world-class technology by dominating the market of alignment film coater.
The alignment film coater is the most significant tool to be used in producing LCD products which firstly cleans the LCD board to arrange the elements of the display board in a same angle, and then it prints the alignment film to make it in a solid form and finally is ready as a rubbing machine for a high standard LCD board production.
Event though Korea is leading the LCD industry with its end product, we are still lacking in our technology in producing component parts for LCD; the supply of alignment film coater for LCD, in particular, has been raised from the Japanese market. Having Nakan’s manufacturing plant in Gyeonggi province will give a great opportunity to reduce imports and study the leading technologies of the foreign companies.
Provincial governor Sohn Hakkyu at the ceremony said that he hopes the Caris plant in Gyeonggi will strengthen the competitiveness of Korean TFT-LCD technology so to aid Korea to take back the number one position in the worldwide LCD market
