Gyeonggi Film Commission receives the 1st place honor in the “Special Item” category in the movie exhibition.
Gyeonggi Province is being praised as a world-class filming location.
The Gyeonggi Film Commission (Chairman, Provincial Governor Kim Moon-soo, and chief manager, Film Director Lee Hyung-seung) recently visited Santa Monica to participate in the “Location Trade Show” for two days, from April 12th~14th, and received the 1st place award in the “Special Item” category.
Movie committees from 260 countries and location supporters compete in the “Location Trade Show,” which is the only trade show dedicated to filming locations.
Among these countries, the “Market Awards” looks for superior advertising of the country concerned, and the Gyeonggi Film Commission drew attention with a shirt that read “WORLD ON LIVE, I LOVE KOREA.”
On the 23rd, team director Kang Suk-pil said, “Even though it was our first chance to introduce Gyeonggi Province to the world as a filming location, we have received countless questions about filming movies or other types of image media.” He added, “I am already excited about the work I will be doing when I get back to Korea.”
It has been reported that the Gyeonggi Film Commission had meetings with Mark Hurd, vice-president of Fox Studio, and Andy Given, vice-president of Sony Columbia Pictures.
The committee was also promised to be kept informed regarding foreign projects, get recommendations of participants and active help or support from the president of American Location Manager Association, Kayla Tams and a Hollywood location manager, Lori Barton, at the venue for the “Urban Location Famtour,” which will be hosted in October.
Gyeonggi Film Commission is planning to come up with detailed incentive policies and location support systems to make Gyeonggi Province a world-class environment for filming.
Additionally, the Gyeonggi Film Commission consulted with the Seoul and Busan Film Commissions for foreign marketing regarding Korean filming locations, and partnering in a booth, holding Famtour together, and advertising filming locations at the “Location Trade Show” in 2008.
