Netizens support Governor Kim’s comments regarding “loosening regulations in the metropolitan area,” made after his business trip to Japan

“There’s tons of money, and tons of job seekers, and enough land for rent at low prices. So what has driven us to this state? I feel frustrated thinking about what has made us fall so ill. People are waiting for the Godot who will give us dreams and hope.” (Yang Byeong-gwan)

“I am convinced that the situation will get better than it was in the past, because people like Governor Kim Moon-soo are stepping up to the forefront to take action. This is why I still have hope.”(Shin Bu-yong)
Netizens have expressed their support to Mr. Kim Moon-soo, Governor of Gyeonggi Province, and agreement with his recent blog posting, in which he expressed his feelings after finishing the ‘one day’ investment IR in Tokyo.
Governor Kim is also finding the courage to express his opinions, as netizens fully shared his concerns and sent their remarks of support.
On Governor Kim’s posting, which read “My heart was heavy to see the stark contrast between the economic situations of Korea and Japan, particularly the center of Japan, Tokyo,” most netizens said that although Japan has much to be envied for, Korea also has the potential to create a bright future backed by its stronger passion, and asked Governor Kim to work hard to this end in his capacity as a public official.
In particular, some netizens fully agreed with his premise that unfair regulations in metropolitan areas hurt the region and local entrepreneurs, and asserted that that the citizens of Gyeonggi Province must come together with local public officials to revise the Metropolitan Organization Law.
One netizen surprised Governor Kim by asserting that Governor Kim should be equipped with the following virtues: youthful opinion that has experienced advanced civilization, ambitious spirit that pushes policies forward like bulldozer, courage to see squarely and revise faults with an open mindset, integrity while fully realizing one’s position, and the foresight needed to think about tomorrow rather than today

A Gyeonggi Province official said, “Governor Kim Moon-soo was happy to learn that there are so many netizens who have confidence and passion for the future of Gyeonggi Province and Korea, and expressed his strong determination to attract investment from abroad and to loosen regulations in the metropolitan area.”

The remarks which attracted so much attention were posted on May 9 by the Governor Kim on his blog. His thoughts regarding his business trip to Japan had the title “Returning from Tokyo IR to attract investment”

His remarks, such as “Japan is witnessing a miracle, as factories that had moved abroad have now returned,” and “What will our children make a living with?” reflected his feelings after the 11-hour business trip to Tokyo, and his frustration as the leader responsible for the provincial government.
