Traditional souvenirs of Gyeonggi Province are making inroads into the global market. The winners of the 2007 Gyeonggi Province Tourist Souvenir Contest will be attending the Tokyo International Gift Show, which is to be held from September 4th to 8th in Tokyo Big Sight, Tokyo¡?s international exhibition center.
Gyeonggi Province will support the participation of the six winners, including Mooni Gongbang, in the gift show, with the aim of boosting their presence on the global stage. This will also serve as a benchmarking trip for future ventures.
Mooni Gong Bang will be presenting an organ made of ceramic ware that gives out clear and beautiful sounds. Hanbaram, another participant, will be taking its high-quality flower petal tea, “Whisper” to the show.
BOK will be showing a three-layered name tag decorated with peony designs, Dubaio (a pine-nut oil), Rudia (a rainbow-striped apron), and Intaron (a four-leaf hand mirror).
This was the eighth souvenir contest held by Gyeonggi Province. This year, 43 crafts and industrial products (29 general products and 15 creative products) were awarded prizes. Kumo-olyo’s industrial arts product jangu (Korean traditional drum) made from colorful celadon porcelain received the grand prize.
A Gyeonggi Province official said, “We will also be sponsoring the participation of the winners in the Gyeonggi International Tourism Exhibition, which will be held at Kintex in Goyang City from November 15th to 18th, 2007. We intend to continue our support of these winners in other ways, as a means of promoting our souvenir industry.”
