Heiri Festival
Heiri is becoming an arts village, providing a variety of arts programs including performance arts, audio and visual performances, which will last from September 8th to 30th. There will be various performance held in the BookHouse Art Space, and the outdoor space in Reed Plaza. There will be exhibitions at Heewon, MaumDeungbul, and Lee & Park Gallery, as well as workshops in Dongwhanara and the jazz club Storyville. The festival will provide a true cross-cultural experience. Tickets are only 3,000 won, and provide admission to seven exhibition centers.

International Jazz Festival at Jara Island, Gapyeong
Imagine: you are listening to jazz in the woods. From September 14th to 16th, the Fourth International Jazz Festival of Jara Island will be held, involving jazz musicians from Korea and abroad. As well, there will be a second stage, where the top domestic hip-hop, soul, funk musicians and DJs will gather to show off their talent.
On an island called “Music Island” located in Jara Island, one will be able to enjoy a “Scandinavian Jazz Festival”, featuring famous jazz musicians from Northern Europe. Also featured are performances by a variety of domestic performers. These two performances are free of charge.

There will be a flower park more than 33,000 square meters in size, as well as a variety of exhibitions, including a showcase of percussion instruments from around the world, wild flowers, insects, arts, ceramic arts, natural dyeing, and wood crafts. Visitors can purchase travel packages linking the Garden of Morning Calm and Nami Island. In addition, a jazz train runs from Sinchon Station to Gapyeong Station, which costs 30,000 won per day and includes a one-day admission ticket. Gwacheon Festival
Gwacheon Festival will be held between September 28th and October 30th at Gwacheon, and is an international arts performance that features outdoor plays and street plays. The reasonable ticket price allows the whole family to go together, and there are also many free performances. Visitors can see performances put on by seven groups from five different countries, including France, the Netherlands, and Australia. One can also enjoy performances by 30 domestic acts. As well, an African Culture Festival will be held, which will allow visitors to enjoy an African folk performance and have a true cultural experience. Children can also enjoy “Run, run, and run, Daldaldal”, which dramatizes the story of Park Moon-soo, a royal secret inspector in the Joseon Dynasty; a performance featuring Dokaebi, a Korean traditional goblin; and a puppet performance featuring the wandering singers, Namsadang.

Makguksu Festival in Yeoju
Makguksu Festival will be held from September 13th to 16th at Cheonseori, Yeoju. The venue is located along Pasaseong (fortress) and Namhangang (river), where the visitors will be able to enjoy makguksu (noodle) with spicy sauce and icy dongchimi, a cold kimchi soup that has been stored to ferment for 15 days.
