The KOAA Show 2007, a showcase of the present and the future of the automobile parts industry, opened at KINTEX in Goyang on September 17.

The nation’s largest exhibition of its kind, hosted by Gyeonggi Province and the Ministry of Commerce, Industry, and Energy, the KOAA Show 2007 is being participated in by 250 Korean companies and 100 foreign companies, from countries such as the U.S., the U.K., and China. The participating companies are exhibiting a wide variety of automobile parts, commodities, parts for tuning, and maintenance equipment.

The KOAA Show 2007 also features a wide range of special events, such as a technology seminar organized by SAE International, a show of automobiles manufactured by college students, and an export fair, targeting more than 100 foreign buyers.

Governor Kim Moon-Soo, who also attended the opening ceremony, and numerous other officials from the province visited booths at the show, highlighting the importance of the automobile parts industry in Korea.
As a former member of automobile-related industry, Governor Kim expressed particular interest in the range of parts displayed at the Show, and emphasized the significance of the automobile industry to the economy of Gyeonggi Province.

Governor Kim said, “The automobile industry is so-called ‘a flower of modern industry’. Industries related to automobile parts take a dominant position in the economy of Gyeonggi Province, and as a whole, its significance is even greater than the semiconductor business. Automobile-related industries also contribute more to job creation than any other businesses. As it is simultaneously a conventional business and a representative industry for the future, the province will spare no effort to support this industry.”

Governor Kim added, “I have had more than one year of experience in studying car equipment, and have had the opportunity to witness first-hand the dramatic development of the automobile parts industry. If the government eases regulations on automobile companies and plants, our parts industry will surely be equipped with a level of global competitiveness that is strong enough to prevail against competition with China.”
