Anseong, a typical agricultural town in southern Gyeonggi Province, is about to be transformed into an industrial city that supports the Yellow Sea Economic Zone.

On July 8 at Anseong City Hall, the Gyeonggi Urban Innovation Corporation (President Kwon Jae-wook) and Anseong City (Mayor Lee Dong-hee) entered into an agreement for the development of Anseong Industrial Complex 4 and resolved to fully launch construction of the complex.

Anseong Industrial Complex 4 will be built in Seoun-myeon and Miyang-myeon in Anseong; as the largest industrial complex in the region with an area of 0.8 million , it will be dedicated to the accommodation of foreign-invested businesses.

Gyeonggi Province chose to build the complex in order to provide a healthy business environment for foreign companies, prepare for FTAs with the US and the EU, and respond to investment demands from foreign companies, which are expected to grow with the increase in trade volume with China.

With the Pyeongtaek-Eumseong Expressway now open to traffic, the site for the complex is at the center of inland and marine transportation; it lies adjacent to the existing Anseong Industrial Complexes 1, 2, and 3, which will result in substantial synergy.

With financial support from ProLogis, a global leading logistics firm, Anseong will become a new industrial hub in the southern Metropolitan area when the Anseong-Wongok High-Tech Logistics Center is completed.

After signing the agreement, Gyeonggi Urban Innovation Corporation President Kwon Jae-wook said, “We will closely monitor the needs of foreign-invested businesses and develop an industrial complex that is customized for these companies by 2011.”
