Leading companies from Gyeonggi Province have returned to Korea after successfully entering the MENA (Middle East and North Africa) market.

Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Small and Medium Business Center announced that the two organizations participated in MACTECH 2009 from October 22 to 25, 2009, with more than 10 businesses from the Gyeonggi area, where they engaged in negotiations worth USD 13,439,000 and concluded contracts worth USD 3,890,000.

MACTECH, which marks its ninth anniversary in 2009, is the leading industrial machinery fair held in MENA, an area with great potential. Over 510 businesses from 45 countries participated in the fair, and 38,585 visitors had opportunities to tour and view the future of the machinery industry.

In particular, Egypt is serving as the gateway to North America and some Middle Eastern areas, giving domestic businesses a positive blueprint for market entry with sustainable economic growth and favorable recognition of Korean products (Hyundai Motors, LG Electronics and Samsung Anycall)

Egyptian businesses and foreign businesses exhibited their products in seven exhibition halls, and the joint exhibition hall of China, Taiwan and Gyeonggi Province took place in the Group Exhibition Hall to promote the excellence of Korean businesses. Individual companies from Japan, Italy, Germany and Turkey also participated in the exhibition.

In particular, importers operating local agents were actively participating in this year’s fair, and it was the progressive targeting of those businesses that led to the successful achievements.

It is rare for businesses and agents to conclude contracts during the exhibition period, and so this success can be attributed to the advance marketing and active PR carried out by the domestic businesses.
