Eighty of Korea’s SMEs will participate in the Korean products show for the Turkish market; a geographically strategic point that links Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa.

Gyeonggi Province will hold 2010 G-FAIR on December 14th and 15th at the Hilton Hotel in Istanbul, Turkey.

2010 G-FAIR Istanbul is the first industrial exhibition to be held on the eve of FTA talks between Korea and Turkey, and has attracted considerable attention from local business leaders and media.

A total of 80 promising Korean SMEs, including 66 enterprises from Gyeonggi Province will participate. They represent four industrial sectors – personal care products, electrical/electronic devices, automotive, machinery, and industrial supplies – and are slated to engage in one-on-one talks with over 600 overseas buyers.

The Turkish market, a geographical hub that connects Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa, has ethnic and historical ties not only with the Islamic and Middle Eastern cultures but also with North African and Central Asian countries.

Gyeonggi Province has attached considerable significance to the exhibition, particularly as Turkey is a major entry point for the European market of nearly 500 million consumers and is fast emerging as an alternative market to the BRIC nations.

Park Seok-Rin, manager of Acepack, a manufacturer of paper cup machinery, shared his thoughts regarding G-Fair Istanbul: “Through this exhibition, I hope to generate export opportunities for our products, which have already proven themselves in Asia and Latin America, in neighboring countries including Turkey.”

Park Eun-hwa, CEO of Joutec, a manufacturer of automotive parts – one of the major exports to Turkey – said: “Through this exhibition we plan to introduce Korea’s leading car video products to the Turkish market, having already done this in the U.S. and Japanese markets. It’s a good opportunity to promote Korea’s exceptional products and develop export outlets. I anticipate great success.”

Over 100 people are expected to attend the opening of G-Fair Istanbul on December 14th including South Korea Ambassador Bae Jae-Hyun, Gyeonggi International Relations Ambassador Baek Young-Seon, Gyeonggi Small and Medium Business Center CEO Hong Gi-Hwa, Istanbul Governor Ahbeuni Mutlu Hussein, Istanbul Chamber of Commerce Vice President Dureuson Topku, and Turkish Union Chamber of Commerce Chairman Ripat Hiseachikeuluglu.
