US Cabot Microelectronics Completes Its Inorganic Compound Factory in Pyeongtaek.
(August 25, 2011)

Factory forecasted to hire approximately 100 people and boost the local semiconductor industry

Last October, Gyeonggi Province successfully attracted US Cabot Microelectronics. The company completed a factory here in Korea less than a year after signing the memorandum of understanding.

Gyeonggi Province announced that Cabot Microelectronics Korea (CEO David Lee) celebrated the completion of their factory at 11:30 a.m. on August 25th with Gyeonggi Province Vice Governor Yu Yeon-chae, Pyeongtaek Deputy Mayor Lee Wan-hui, US Cabot TM CEO William Noglows, and officials from Samsung and Hynix Semiconductor, along with forty other participants.

Cabot Microelectronics was founded in 2000 to produce inorganic compounds for semiconductors and pads. It has grown at an astonishing speed and is now the leading specialized producer in the world. Cabot invested USD 1 million in Korea. The new factory in the Oseong Complex of Pyeongtaek City will produce inorganic compounds for semiconductors.

Gyeonggi Province expects the new facility to hire over 100 new recruits. Once Cabot Korea starts manufacturing, its stable CMP Slurry distribution will boost the local semiconductor industry and replace a large percentage of imported materials.

Vice Governor Yu Yeon-chae, who participated in the festive event, said “I hope Cabot Korea and Gyeonggi Province’s well-developed industrial infrastructure and ample human resources will lead this business to success. We will promote more foreign investment to create new jobs, develop cutting-edge technology, and stimulate the local economy.”
