If you are planning to go on a trip this winter, visit the Gyeonggi International Travel Mart at KINTEX in Goyang City where you will find a wide range of travel information on winter-themed programs as well as domestic and overseas winter travel courses.

The 9th Gyeonggi International Travel Mart (GITM) will open at KINTEX, Goyang City, for four days from December 8 to 11 to exhibit diverse travel products available in Korea and overseas as well as in Gyeonggi Province.

This exhibition’s main theme is ‘Everything you need for winter travel!’ Various domestic and foreign travel products will be introduced and specially discounted products for winter and spring travel as well as honeymoon trips will be on offer from the top ten domestic and overseas travel agencies.

The International Tourism Promotion Booth will serve as a useful guide by providing visitors with travel information on over twenty countries including China, Japan, Malaysia and the Philippines.

In addition, winter travel courses and themed programs offered by Korean local governments will also be presented at this exhibition.

At the Winter-themed Booth, many local festivals will be introducedincluding the Sancheoneo Ice Festival of Hwacheon, Gangwon Province, the Dongjangkun Festival of Pocheon, and the Fresh Winter Festival of Gapyeong, Gyeonggi Province.

The Dongjangkun Festival, which runs for one month in January in Baegun Valley of Pocheon City, offers a diverse range of events such as ice fishing, traditional ice sleigh rides, valley snow sleigh rides, and bonfires as well as outstanding scenic views including ice pillars standing along the valley.

Visitors can also enjoy ice fishing and trout fishing at the Fresh Winter Festival of Jarasum.

At the Travel Promotion Booth, which introduces winter sports and themed programs, various winter travel products are available. Furthermore, skiing, snowboarding and other winter leisure sports and activities are presented to help visitors get ready to enjoy winter.

Of partciluar note, this year’s GITM is offering many programs targeting high school seniors and young adults, such as cosmetics, beauty supply, hairstyling, nail art and other beauty shows, as well as fashion shows, hair shows, and ecofriendly DIY cosmetic events.

Many other tourism facilities will be open to visitors including the Farming Village Experience Travel Center, the Leisure Sports Experience Center – which introduces leisure activities such as lightweight airplanes, paragliding, MTB biking and camping – and the Souvenir Shop.

At last year’s GITM, 280 domestic and foreign organizations participated in the exhibition, which consisted of more than 550 booths, and approximately 67,000 people visited the show.

Admission to the exhibition is free. For more information, consult the official website (www.gitm.or.kr).
