Gyeonggi Province announced on March 29 that the Saturday Market, organized for the direct sale of Gyeonggi agricultural and specialty products, will reopen on March 31.

The Saturday Market operates on Saturdays from 10a.m. to 5p.m. in the parking lot of the Gyeonggi Provincial Government Complex in Suwon City.

The market sells G-Mark (“G” stands for Gyeonggi Province) agricultural products, vegetables including sweet potatoes, a variety of grains, mushrooms, soybean paste, balloon flower processed food, rice cake, honey and livestock products. More than 100 items supplied by about 30 companies are sold for 10 to 30 percent less than regular prices. 1135754024.jpg Images◇ On March 31, Gyeonggi Province will hold a brief ceremony to celebrate the reopening of the market and stage a variety of events including auctions, makgeolli (traditional Korean rice wine) tasting and rice dough pounding with a mallet. Agro Products Market held in January 2011 ⓒ G-News Plus

Gyeonggi Province will hold a market-reopening ceremony on March 31 before vendors start selling their regional products at reduced prices. A variety of interesting events will follow including auctions, rice wine tasting and rice dough pounding.

A booth will be set up to display products made by the disabled. Another booth will feature a small library for visitors to the provincial government complex and the adjacent Paldal Mountain.

“This is the third year for the Saturday Market. Last year the market recorded annual turnover of more than KRW 500 million, affirming its popularity among the residents of Gyeonggi,” said an official of Gyeonggi Province. “With the market, we promote the excellence of regional products while benefitting both the producers and consumers of Gyeonggi products.”
