Eight firefighters are currently visiting from China to observe the provincial government’s disaster response system.

On July 25, Shanxi Province dispatched eight representatives from its police department to the Gyeonggi Fire Department’s Natural Disaster Headquarters to learn more about Gyeonggi Province’s advanced systems.

Jang Heung (58), deputy commissioner of the Shanxi Province police department, Ju Sang (48), Shanxi Province’s firefighting squad chief, and Yang So-pyeong (49), chief of the Shanxi police firefighting unit, were among the eight who visited Korea.

The group viewed a promotional video that provided detailed information on Gyeonggi Province’s disaster management system and the valiant deeds of its firefighting squad at the local Disaster General Situation Room, and they displayed keen interest in the province’s advanced disaster response systems.

A fire department official said, “It seems that Shanxi Province has developed an interest in our methods through the volunteers we dispatched to major disaster areas such as Sichuan. They were very focused and eager to learn despite the scorching weather.”
