Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization are recruiting families who want to participate in the “Gyeonggi Family Camping Trip.”

Those selected will be sent to the Yainsidae Camping Ground (third cycle from September 22 to October 3) or the Seungma (horseback riding) Auto-camping Ground (fourth cycle from October 27 to 28).

On the first day of the first cycle of Gyeonggi Province’s family camping program, families will participate in activities such as making household doorplates and shopping at a traditional market, as well as attending a camp cooking competition, talent donation “Mini Classic Concert,” and “Family Recreation” event for the entire family. The second day will consist of activities at the camping grounds.

Forty families who lack camping equipment will be sent to the Yainsidae Camping Ground in Bucheon City while forty families that do have equipment will be sent to the Seungma Auto-camping Ground in Anseong City. The fees are KRW 80,000 and KRW 70,000, respectively, and include all program costs plus a traditional market shopping certificate worth KRW 20,000.

The Bucheon Camp is scheduled to open in September especially for families who are new to camping and view the purchase of camping equipment as a burden. Not only can families rent tents, tarps, and lanterns, but they will be taught how to set up a camp site.

The Yainsidae Camping Ground is close to the Korea Comic Museum. Visitors can enjoy a 4D video experience and make customized refrigerator magnets. At the Seungma Auto-camping Ground, campers will be able to ride and feed horses, and visit the historic stables. Musicians of the Gyeonggi Music Association will stage a mini-classic performance as part of their talent donation scheme to stimulate the local economy.

An official responsible for organizing the camp said, “We were very surprised when we had to close the registration period within thirty minutes last year due to the sheer number of applicants. So this year we extended the application period and will be drawing lots instead of going by order of acceptance.”

Gyeonggi Tourism Organization President Hwang Jun-gi said, “Last year’s summer camp was a smash hit. The same program is back this year at a more reasonable price and with more interesting events.”

Applications for Gyeonggi Province’s family camp (third cycle) will be accepted until the 5th of this month. Those who are selected will be sent to the camp between September 28 and October 3, i.e., six days in total. If you wish to attend the camp, please fill in an application at www.ggtour.or.kr, Gyeonggi Tourism Organization’s official site. Eighty families will be selected, forty each for Bucheon and Anseong.

The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization has also prepared ten camping courses that integrate local markets and nearby tourist spots. For further information, please visit the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization site.
