According to Yonhap News,

Stanislav Tkhai, CEO of Russia Ural Electronics Plant, was appointed Gyeonggi’s advisory consultant for FDI attraction at an IR event held in the State of Sverdlovsk on last Friday.

Tkhai, who is a descendent of the Korean immigrants and succeed in business, explained the prospect of Gyeonggi-based companies making inroad into Russia in an interview with Yonhap News.

–How do you feel about your being appointed Gyeonggi’s advisory consultant for FDI attraction?

▲ I’m not an expert in investment, but I was born in Russia and I’ve grown up here. I do business in Russia for a long time, which helps me build up social networks with various people. This is why I was appointed to the position, I think.

–What is your plan down the road?

▲ I will connect Russian and Korean companies upon the request of the Gyeonggi Local Government. I will also support Gyeonggi to establish ties with the Russian government.

–How do you think about Gyeonggi’s local companies penetrating into the Russian market?

▲ Several Korean companies have already entered the Russian market with their cutting-edge technology. Among German, Japanese and Korean products, Korean products are considered the best in term of both quality and price competitiveness. I am confident to say that Korean products will succeed in Sverdlovsk.

–What is the most essential factor for Gyeonggi’s local companies to penetrate into the Russian market?

▲ Establishing a friendly relationship with the Russian government is important. In this regard, I think Gyeonggi Governor Kim Mun-su’s visit to Russia helps a lot. Gyeonggi’s conclusion of agreements with Russian companies and institutions marks the beginning of the friendly relationship.

-Do you think that agreements between companies make a positive impact on the diplomatic relationship between countries?

▲ A Gyeonggi-based company signed a cooperation memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Russian state-run VSMPO-AVISMA. Its parent company is a huge enterprise doing operation in Russia’s many regions. The Russian government may be well aware of the MOU. Establishing partnership with companies relevant to the Russian federal government will make a positive impact on the their relationship with the Russian government.
