Gyeonggi Province‘s robot technology attracts Europe.

One regional robot company supported by Gyeonggi Province is gaining recognition for its technology e.g. by concluding an export contract after earning favorable reviews at the famous overseas exhibition.
Future Robot Co.,Ltd. located in Seongnam City of the province announced on 26 that it concluded a USD 0.7 million export contract by participating in the largest service robot exhibition of Europe ‘2013 INNO ROBO’, hosted in Lyon of France from March 19 to 21.
That represents much to the company as it achieved the contract in competition with global companies at the international robot exhibition where 120 companies from 12 countries participated in.
Future Robot Co.,Ltd. will export 20 information service robots(USD 0.7 million) which can express feelings and gestures of human and offer service in various languages(Korean, English, Chinese, and Japanese) to 7 countries including UK and Netherlands.
This company has been supported by Connected Cooperation Project in Regional Economy, where Seoul, Incheon, and other cities have participated in as well as Gyeonggi Province since 2010 in terms of the development of pilot products, the improvement of the robot performances, and the applications for the domestic or international intellectual property rights.
“As service robots have been rarely exported to overseas market, we can say we gained international recognition for our robot technology,” said head of Science and Technology Department of Gyeonggi Province Park Soo-young. “We expect that our overseas market will be expand in the future.” He added.
Meanwhile, Gyeonggi Province and Ministry of Knowledge Economy have invested KRW 10.7 billion in project expense for ‘Improvement Plan of the intelligent Robots’ for 3 years since 2010 in order to industrialize the intelligent robot sector and realize a nation of technological power. Through the investment, they have supported Gyeonggi Technopark in terms of the production of pilot products, consulting for intellectual property rights, and marketing, and accordingly, have achieved excellent outcomes such as ‘2012 Yeosu Expo dugong Robot Performance’ and the first-in-the-nation animusical <Legend of Robot Land>(3.16 to 4.28).
