Gyeonggi Province, eBay Korea and the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization joined forces to vitalize tourism through co-marketing.
On December 19 at the headquarters of eBay Korea in Yeoksam-dong, Seoul, Gyeonggi Province signed a co-marketing memorandum of understanding (MOU) with eBay Korea and the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization to vitalize tourism. Over 10 people participated in the event including Gyeonggi Province Governor Kim Moon-soo, Gyeonggi Tourism Organization President Hwang Jun-ki, and eBay Korea CEO Byun Kwang-yun.
This is the second agreement between Gyeonggi and eBay Korea, following an agreement signed on November 7 to vitalize the online distribution of agricultural specialties. This is expected to increase tourism through the sale of tour packages online via an open market.
With the opportunity engendered by this agreement, Gyeonggi Province and eBay Korea will push forward with the sale and marketing of tour packages that represent Gyeonggi Province, such as those incorporating Gyeonggi Province’s experiential tours, ceramics, local specialties and festivals, via Gmarket and Auction, which are online shopping portals managed by eBay Korea.
Moreover, Gyeonggi Province and eBay Korea decided to engage in joint efforts to widely promote lesser known tourism resources of Gyeonggi such as DMZ walking tours, biking tours and Jeongok Marina yachting, and to identify new concepts to attract more tourists in conjunction with Hallyu (Korean Wave).
“Through this cooperation agreement, Gyeonggi Province’s attractive tourism resources, ceramics industry and festivals are expected to gain wider recognition, which will hopefully attract more visitors to the province,” said Lee Jin-soo, Director General of Gyeonggi’s Culture, Sports and Tourism Bureau.
