Foreign investment attraction delegation, headed by Governor Kim Moon-soo, is visiting Shanghai, China for two days from February 24th to 25th.

On the first day of the delegation’s visit, February 24, an MOU signing ceremony was held at the Marriott Hotel in Shanghai, China for the development of Marina Bay Seoul Hotel in Gimpo city with many attendees, including Governor Kim Moon-soo, Gimpo city Mayor Yu Young-lok and the CEO of ED-SUN Hong Kong Sun Tie Lai. 

According to the MOU, ED-SUN Hong Kong will invest US$ 80 million to build the largest medical tourism business hotel in Gyeonggi Province with approximately 700 rooms in a site area of 4,557㎡ in the Gimpo Gochon Logistics Complex with the construction scheduled to be completed by mid 2017.

The concept of Marina Bay Seoul Hotel is a “business medical tourism leisure hotel” that will integrate business, leisure and shopping facilities. It will enhance its competitiveness with not only a high-end shopping complex but a scalp treatment facility, oriental medicine clinic, pain treatment clinic as well as a stem cell and genetic testing facility.

Gyeonggi Province believes that the hotel will boost the local economy, create around 1000 new jobs, meet the demand from the rising number of Chinese tourists, help in relieving the shortage of accommodations targeting international visitors and revitalize the medical tourism industry.

At the ceremony, Governor Kim said, “With the investment from ED-SUN Hong Kong, Gimpo city in Gyeonggi Province will have a hotel for medical tourists. The Marina Bay Seoul Hotel in Gimpo City will become a landmark and will help the Korean tourism industry take a great leap forward.”

ED-SUN Hong Kong is a Hong Kong investment consulting firm that was established in 2011. ED-SUN Hong Kong has built a hotel in Heilongjiang Province, China in the past. Currently, it is pre-selling the Saint Castle townhouses, with 108 units, that it has built within Dongtan New Town.
