Base camp situated at HallyuWorld’s theme park site from March 12 to April 2

With increasing online attention on news announcing the filming location and date for the movie Avengers: Age of Ultron (Avengers 2) on March 18, a base camp for the movie has been established at the HallyuWorld theme park site in Gyeonggi Province. 

The HallyuWorld Project Team announced on March 20 that Gyeonggi Province received an inquiry through the Gyeonggi Film Commission early  in March with regard to establishing a base camp, and the province approved the establishment as well as the use of test filming locations with the aim of developing the Korean film industry and globalizing the Korean Wave.

The production company undertook test filming before actual filming from March 17 to 30 at World Goyangro within HallyuWorld. Gyeonggi Province and Goyang City planned a collaborative scheme with the Goyang Industry Promotion Agency and Ilsan Police Station to minimize inconvenience for residents caused by blocked roads.

Avengers 2 will be released globally in May next year. The Korean Film Commission predicts that this filming project will generate approximately KRW 25.1 billion in production inducement effects and KRW 10.7 billion in added value inducement effects. Moreover, it is projected that the number of tourists from home and abroad will increase by 620,000 people after filming.

“We hope this opportunity will pave the way for gaining wider recognition of Gyeonggi Hallyuworld and revitaliz the regional economy,” said Hwang Seon-goo, head of the Hallyuworld Project Team.
