The 2014 Northern Gyeonggi G-Trade Namyangju Export Consultations, a representative event organized by Namyangju City, the Gyeonggi Small & Medium Business Center (GSBC) and KOTRA, saw 203 consultations worth a combined total of USD 33 million. The event was well received among foreign buyers.

The export consultation event at the Namyangju Organic Theme Park on June 25 has been held three years in a row since 2012 through the utilization of Gyeonggi Business Centers (GBC), which are part of the global network of GSBC.

Of particular note, this event was lauded for increasing overseas export success rates through the invitation of buyers with significant purchasing power via Gyeonggi Business Centers (GBC), which are representative branches operated by GSBC and KOTRA overseas.

Erunlift, a Namyangju City-based manufacturer of elevators and lifts for the disabled, secured a USD 200,000 agreement through meetings with a company from Arab Emirates. That company’s buyer compared the price competitiveness of Erunlift with that of a Japanese company that has been dominating the lift market of Dubai. Additional meetings have been scheduled to finalize the details of the contract after a review of a written quotation.

A buyer from Palace Beauty Inc., of the US said, “We were able to participate in this event through LA GBC, and felt that we benefited since we saw many promising Korean products. We plan to stay in touch with some of companies we had consultations with and will introduce them to other US buyers interested in related products when we return to the US.”

Yun Byung-kwan, CEO of Dream Korea Co. Ltd., said, “These export consultation meetings provide us with opportunities to meet many foreign buyers without incurring a cost burden, and so we want to participate whenever such consultation sessions take place.” He added, “I am more than happy to be able to introduce more advanced products to the buyers I met around the same time the last year and to engage in more productive consultations.”

GSBC Director An Kyung-eyop said, “I hope that this export consultation event will help SMEs in northern Gyeonggi regions better understand the trends of both advanced and newly industrializing countries, and also create a foundation for entry into overseas markets through consultations with buyers who have significant purchasing power. We will do our best to help SMEs in the northern regions of Gyeonggi Province to continuously achieve export outcomes by supporting the cultivation of various foreign markets on the basis of their characteristics.”
