“I will strive to create more awareness about expanding the sharing culture of the residents of the province by coming forward as a social worker and actively engaging in sharing and donation culture.”

Gyeonggi Province Governor Nam Kyung-pil was appointed as the Honorary Chairman of the Gyeonggi Community Chest of Korea. Governor Nam received the Honorary Chairman Appointment Plaque from Choi Shin-weon, Chairman of Gyeonggi Community Chest of Korea, on July 15.

Governor Nam said, “I really sympathize with the values and efforts pursued by the Community Chest of Korea, and feel very happy about becoming a member of the Gyeonggi Community Chest of Korea. I will do my best to have the residents of the province put neighborly love into practice with the efforts of the people here.”

While expressing gratitude, Chairman Choi Shin-weon said, “Donation culture has been established, but there are still many neighbors waiting for kind and generous hands in all areas of the province. Please set an example in putting neighborly love into practice and become a great cornerstone.”

Governor Nam is slated to participate in various activities to help neighbors including a hope campaign at the end of the year and visits to social welfare sites.

The Gyeonggi Community Chest of Korea, established in July of 1998, is performing various fund-raising activities through such means as the honor society, a sharing campaign among office workers, a campaign for good shops, and social contributions by companies. It has collected KRW 34.15 billion and delivered it to underprivileged individuals and groups.
