The Korea International Boat Show (KIBS) has solidified its reputation as the top boat show in Asia with its status confirmed by the International Federation of Boat Show Operators (IFBSO).
Gyeonggi Province revealed on March 17 that, for first time among boat shows in Asia, KIBS obtained platinum membership status from IFBSO.
IFBSO divides boat shows into three membership categories: platinum, gold, and silver. Platinum membership is the highest possible grade for boat shows. To obtain membership, a show must meet 20 conditions laid out by the Global Association of the Exhibition Industry (UFI) including size of the exhibition, national importance and more.
Only 20 boat shows around the world have obtained this prestigious membership status. At present, top-level exhibitions such as the Miami International Boat Show (USA) and London Boat Show (UK) among others have platinum membership.
The acquisition of platinum membership, alongside its membership with the International Council of Marine Industry Associations (ICOMIA), and acquisition of Trade Fair Certification from the U.S. Department of Commerce has given KIBS the opportunity to stand shoulder to shoulder with world famous boat shows.
Gyeonggi Province Assistant Governor for Economy Choi Hyeon-deok said, “IFBSO platinum membership for the Korea International Boat Show is proof that the show is recognized as a top-level event not only domestically but also internationally.” Choi added, “Going forward, KIBS will do its best to find markets for domestic companies and contribute to the growth of our marine leisure industry.”
The 2015 KIBS will be held from May 28 to 31 at Ilsan KINTEX and Gimpo Ara Marina.
