This is one of the few places where you can trace the roots of Ansan. The precise period of construction is unknown, but it was built after the late Goryeo Period according to research by the Hanyang University Museum, The wall was built to prevent foreign invasions. Because of Mt. Surisan behind, there was no need to build a fortress. It has great value as a historic reference before a capital formed during the Joseon Period.
