A delegation with a promotional mandate for Gyeonggi Province will host road shows to attract tourists from the greater China region. The delegation will cooperate with the tourism industry in Gyeonggi Province to hold events in major cities across China including Beijing and Hong Kong until October 17.
The delegation will be led by the President of the Gyeonggi Tourism Organization, and include over 30 people from more than 20 organizations in the tourism industry such as Everland, the Korean Folk Village, One Mount, Daejangguem Park, Petit France, and Woongjin Play City.
While on the road, the delegation will visit some of the largest outbound travel agents in Beijing and Hong Kong. The strategy is to engage in promotional activities for tourism across Gyeonggi Province to attract tourists from the greater China region with the autumn and winter season coming soon.
To develop winter tourism products, the delegation plans to form a consortium with eight travel agents in Hong Kong that send the largest number of tourists to Korea and to launch a ‘Gyeonggi Super-Ski’ product that connects Gyeonggi Province ski resorts popular among Taiwan, Thailand, and Malaysian tourists with nearby attractions.
For this project, the delegation will present: a southern Gyeonggi product course that centers on Yangji Pine Resort and Jisan Resort, and spans out to Everland, the Korean Folk Village, Suwon Hwaseong Fortress, and MBC Daejanggeum Park; an eastern Gyeonggi product course that centers on Gonjiam Resort and includes Petit France, the Garden of Morning Calm, and Yangpyeong Rail Bike; and finally a northwestern Gyeonggi product course that focuses on Bears Town as well as One Mount, Woongjin Play City, and Aqua Planet.
Additionally, the delegation will offer information on tourism products involving various filming sites for the ‘Running Man’ while they’re in Beijing given that Gyeonggi Province is the main filming location for the entertainment show ‘Running Man’ which is immensely popular in China.
The delegation will also promote various exhibition and convention facilities as well as DMZ bicycle tour programs and a barracks-experience program at Camp Greaves.
The Gyeonggi Tourism Organization will pay visits to major travel agents that send tourists to Korea – including ‘CYTS’ in Beijing and ‘HongThai’ in Hong Kong – to introduce the tourism companies taking part in the delegation and identify ways to attract real tourism demand from the greater China region.
Gyeonggi Province plans to invite more than 100 guests from the Chinese and Hong Kong public organizations, key media outlets, and major travel agencies to an evening event for regional interaction. In particular, the provincial government will also create an opportunity for tourism companies and organizations in Gyeonggi Province to consult with the local tourism industry and corporations to facilitate interaction in the tourism industry.
More than 20 major cities in the greater China region were selected three years ago by Gyeonggi Province. Selected based on conditions including the Korean visa issuance rates, income levels, and the availability of direct flights to Incheon International Airport, Gyeonggi Province holds promotional road shows in these select cities.
