On the morning of November 2, Gyeonggi Province Governor Nam Kyung-pil met with Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and introduced Pangyo during Premier Li’s visit to the Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy and Innovation in Pangyo, Seongnam City.

Governor Nam said, “Gyeonggi Province plans to build a business center in the ‘Second Pangyo’ scheduled for 2017. Of which, half the complex will be a global center and the other half will be a ‘China Center’.” Governor Nam continued, “We expect investments to flow in from China, so we hope the Premier can help a number of Chinese corporations to establish their presence in the ‘China Center’.”

Governor Nam added, “We want to develop a system that resembles the Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy and Innovation and build a startup campus by February 2016.”

In response, Premier Li said, “Korea and China must cooperate in the ICT field to not only expand into each other’s markets but also to enter the global market. Both governments have already agreed to this.” Premier Li also said, “We plan to create a China-Korea Youth Innovation Complex in Chengdu, Sichuan Province. It will help Korean corporations enter China’s Midwestern markets. I hope we can cooperate on many fronts with Gyeonggi Province as well.”

The Premier added that he will extend his support to the China Center proposed by Governor Nam.

As soon as he greeted Governor Nam, Premier Li expressed his gratitude saying, “I heard you rescheduled your appointments to be here today. Thank you. I’ve been to Gyeonggi Province a few times before.” Governor Nam reciprocated, saying, “I’ve seen you a few times at the Korean National Assembly. I’m very happy to meet you. I did reschedule to meet you, Premier.” Premier Li’s visit to the center continued in a friendly manner.
