At 4:00pm on November 18, Governor Nam Kyung-pil visited the French embassy in Korea to mourn victims of the terrorist attacks in Paris.

Governor Nam met French Ambassador Fabien Penone and offered condolences, stating that the attack is a “tragedy that saddens the heart.”

In the visitor’s book, Nam wrote ‘On behalf of the 13 million residents of Gyeonggi Province, I hope the deceased may rest in peace. I also offer condolences to the families affected by this tragedy. Gyeonggi Province will provide its full support and work together with the French government to ensure this never happens again.’

Ambassador Fabien Penone expressed his gratitude to Governor Nam for his visit, saying, “I will visit Gyeonggi Province soon. We will work to promote exchange between municipal governments in both countries.”

On November 17, at a joint forest fire training exercise at Dangnamriseom in Yeoju, Governor Nam said, “I saw the French people exit the football stadium in an orderly fashion while singing their national anthem in the midst of all the fear brought on by the terrorist attacks in Paris.” Nam emphasized, “That’s the result of education and practice in time of peace. We must prepare ourselves well during our everyday lives while being aware that a disaster can strike us at any time.”
