Metropolitan residents will now have access to Gyeonggi-do Jathyanggi Pureunsup, one of the most popular ‘healing’ destinations in Gyeonggi Province, via public transportation.

On December 2, the Gyeonggi Forestry Environment Research Center announced that the City Tour Bus departing from Cheongpyeong Station will stop over at the Gyeonggi-do Jathyanggi Pureunsup as of December 2.

According to the center, Gyeonggi-do Jathyanggi Pureunsup suffered from poor accessibility because it lacked public transportation options. To solve this problem, the center had been petitioning Gapyeong-gun authorities since earlier this year, and these efforts have now paid off with Gyeonggi-do Jathyanggi Pureunsup being successfully added to the City Tour Bus route.

The new City Bus Tour will depart Cheongpyeong Station at 12:50pm and arrive at Gyeonggi-do Jathyanggi Pureunsup at 1:20pm; it departs from the Gyeonggi-do Jathyanggi Pureunsup at 3:20pm and arrives back at Cheongpyeong Station at 3:45pm.

Within the circular route, passengers can use a single daily ticket to freely transfer between buses, hopping on and off to enjoy the sites as they wish. Tickets are KRW 6,000 for adults, and KRW 4,000 for children, soldiers, seniors, and the disabled.

The Gyeonggi Forestry Environment Research Center plans to secure continued cooperation from Gapyeong-gun and expand the bus service to make it even more convenient for visitors.

The center also plans to find ways to ensure the safety of Jathyanggi Pureunsup visitors during the winter season by: installing banners promoting visitor safety protocols; preparing rapid snow-clearing procedures; and conducting in-house safety training including CPR for quick emergency first aid.

The Gyeonggi Forestry Environment Research Center’s Provincial Forest Management Team Manager Cho Gwang-geun said, “We will continue our efforts to extend the City Tour Bus service to help Gyeonggi people refresh themselves in the forest at Jathyanggi Pureunsup.” Manager Cho added, “We will do our best to ensure a safe and comfortable environment.”

Gyeonggi-do Jathyanggi Pureunsup, a 153ha facility that opened last year in Sang-myeon of Gapyeong-gun, is home to more than 50,000 trees that are more than 80 years old. Jathyanggi Pureunsup features various facilities for forest experiences including a healing center, nature meditation area, decked road, and a forest lake.

In particular, visitors can enjoy a walk through the woods full of nut pine trees that release 1.436㎍/㎥ of phytoncide, an antibiotic substance, into the atmosphere each year. With the ample phytoncide produced by the nut pines, Jathyanggi Pureunsup offers effective relief from diseases such as rhinitis, asthma, and atopic dermatitis which is why it is known as an ideal place to heal your mind and body.
